I’ve played for 2 years, and I gotta say, you’re a fast learner! I didn’t play my first song until after my first year of playing😂

Thank you very much for this video. I am near my 40s and try to learn the flute myself. I play the guitar for 20 years now beside some other instruments and was totaly depressed because i sounded that shitty on the flute. 😂 Your clip showed me that it seems to be normal at the beginning and gave me hope that i may become as good as you were after a year. 👍 Greetings from Germany ✌️

I just want to say that over two years ago you gave me such motivation that now I play the flute in an orchestra and I attend a music school for piano and flute (I have been playing the piano from an early age). By the way, sorry for my English

Amazing progress! How many hours a day did you practice? Do you read music? Did you learn online or with a in person tutor?

Awesome video. I am also a piano player, and I picked up the clarinet really easily, but found the flute really hard. I feel the fingering is easier on the flute, but getting decent sounds out is tough, and I am getting out of breath very easily - I did not have that with the clarinet. What motivates me is that the sound of the flute is so beautiful.

As an Asian musician hard work determination passion comes first if you really want to learn an instrument. But all that is forgotten as you get old. It's all about having fun and letting go of ego and not caring what others think!!!!! Music is about feel not thoughts.

When you upgrade/change flutes you tend to sound airy and have to work at your tone again. I am currently going through this with my daughter.

The pieces played here is what I always wanted to play on the flute It took probably three years to finally finalize my decision and get myself a flute from a music shop. It costed a lot for sure and I wanted to use my savings but my grandma wanted to use her money to pay for it instead since she really does not want me to spend my savings so thanks a lot grandma :’) I might be getting the flute in the weekends and I am expecting a lot of difficult times and feeling of giving up (I had this experience with a violin so I gave it to my cousin and he returned it back to me again with a broken string, ow. He’s now playing the guitar or bass though and a long time ago we both learned piano for a moment) I also used to play the tin whistle 1-2 years ago and wanted to move on to the flute because of the pieces shown here again and I always go back here to watch to remind me not to give up again when I don’t make a good sound when playing as a beginner =) update! okay so 10 months later, i think ive been playing for 8-9 months or as old as this comment so far i've done a recital 4 months ago and i was part of a school wind ensemble and performed on an event night last month! now this month i might have my recital again

Great job. I too was an adult beginner on flute and just like you played piano(and guitar) and it made it much easier to learn flute once I was able to get a sound. Keep it up 🎉

Other than flute & piano, I also I see cello in your room, and maybe some other musical instruments. You are a real musician. No wonder you can play flute fluently in only 1 year.

I’m 68 and love the sound of the Flute. Have been playing one for a number of years. Taught myself and still not great but love playing it. Sits on its stand and pick it up nearly every other day. I play Jazz so it’s alot of fun playing along.

Try to play some lyrical pieces to work on your tone quality. You’re not getting that rich flute sound because you’re playing technical pieces too early.
