From the tiny snippet that we heard of you singing Fado, I would say less vibrato. But I am a complete amateur and can't sing my way out of a paper bag!😁😁😁

The origin of fado comes from african slaves in Portugal who remembered Africa.

That is not true. Fado is an urban style born in the XIX century in Lisbon. I was sung by white portuguese people from the poorest neighbourhoods in the city like Alfama or Mouraria. Slavery was already illegal in Portugal and there were almost no african people in the country, only in the colonies. The origins of fado are said to be in gypsy and moorish music probably. Therefore, I am sorry, but fado have absolutely nothing to do with african slaves and their culture, there are many other portuguese styles influenced by them, but fado is definitely not on of them

Portugal is the right place for you to go. You're a true musician, and so beautiful and intelligent.... I'm almost falling in love here (but I'm already taken - and by another opera singer who went Folk). Fado is Portugal's Soil Music, like blues was in Memphis when Memphis, back when it had a soul. It's not Gospel, it's more about the Sin (with a capital 'S'). One musical lament weeps, "Not even my walls hear me confess it, not even in my dark room alone at midnight." One song title is dedicated "To all my people who wash their clothes in the river". So poor they don't have washing machines, or even coin for a visit to the laundromat. They use their hands, a stream of water and rocks. Fado tells their heartbreak stories of loss, loneliness, and a soul darkened but never extinguished, as long as the loss or estrangement burns. It comes like a flame from a dark place.

The language is 14th Century Latin from Burgundy France - Don Afonso learned it in the court of his Father after they carved out with swords and maces the beginning a of a kingdom that Mauritania had stolen earlier about 711AD. The lyrics are in a French and Africanized Medieval Latin still in use today in Lisboa all the way to Rio, and even Mo¢ambique.

Why can't we redeem our skyhours? Why won't the telephone number go through to customer service anymore? Why do all the emails bounce back as undeliverable? Why won't you refund the money if you can't let us book an airline?

Amazing! Thank you so much to get the courage needed to sing Fado. You're the living proof that it doesn't matter if you are respecting Fado when you sing it, because every time you make a true effort to understand the deepness of a music style you're always respecting that music. Respect is in your heart and in the way you make your path towards a music. Thank You.

To really understand FADO you really must not only know the language, the culture and above all else, the History. Understanding FADO is going deep into the portuguese soul, our roots. Go all the way, my dear, and you'll find who you really are... because FADO (from the latin word FACTUM) is us: simple but at the same time so complicated! Warm welcome to the best country in the World: PORTUGAL.

There is almost 2000 years of history in Lisbon as a city. New York is an toddler compared to Lisbon . Only age wise of course. Fado is something so ours that it makes me proud when people from outside experience that feeling we feel when hearing it.
