"Fight clubs, depending on the club, should be legal!" ^ I've had dis belief 4 like... well I can't say. But 4 da sake of testing out techniques an' da like *under pressure,* there needs 2 b those fight clubs! I'm sure if ppl of [most] certain styles go 2 fight gyms an' get their techs off in live sparring, those same techs'll b there likely in a [1-v-1 at da very least] street scenario! Plus, I should wonder how capoeira was trained back in da day; even b4 it made its way 2 Brazil... Cuz if I were a capoeirista, I'd likely wanna train it similar 2 how krav maga practitioners train in their fashion!

I enjoy the demo. My question is this, why at the end of the strick does the weapon seem to just dangle around. It does not seem to offer defense and is in a weak position to attack. After all it is NOT a sword that has just delivered a cut!

So wait. What exactly IS Knocking and Kicking if you you don't mind my asking? Is it a stand alone method of fighting on its own or is it capoeira taken to its logical combat extreme?
@Ronaldo-rt7hl2 жыл бұрын
It’s its own thing it was developed during slavery amongst enslaved Africans Americans. I’m pretty sure Kicking and Knocking and Capoeira have the same ancestor but, no, one did not develop from the other.
@oceanberserker2 жыл бұрын
@@Ronaldo-rt7hl Ah, thanks for clarifying for me, fam. So it really IS a stand alone method that's it's own thing, yeah?
@Ronaldo-rt7hl2 жыл бұрын
@@oceanberserker you can do further research it’s documented but yes it’s a stand alone practice but it’s going to be similarities just like all the diasporan cultures you can find similarities but similarities shouldn’t be mistaken as the same. It’s definitely erroneous to say it derived from Capoeira tho since they are both daughter practices of another African martial arts.

@@Ronaldo-rt7hl I figured as much. Credible sources aren't exactly easy to find though.

Why do u call your series "Knocking & Kicking"? I read a GREAT Book by TJ Desch-Obi on African Martial Arts in the AMericas- if I recall correctly Knocking and Kicking was a an Igbo derived MArtial Art/Game popular in the Low COuntry.Gullah - Geechee area that involved a lot of tripping. Is the name in homage to that?

How were you ever able to get into the secret societies and learn this martial art? This is absolutely amazing!!! I read the book Fighting for Honor by T.J. Desch Obi. He witnessed this art before. One of the moves I saw in your other video that was 39 seconds long you did a sweep they called the catman. The first picture of the engolo man crouching with his leg out (on this video) is what it looked like. Keep up the good work!!!!!
