I got a 61mp sony and after 2 1/2 years I'm just now barely scratching the surface of its true potential by editing photos in 16bit/48bit It's not that cameras need more megapixels they need better technology stacked sensors or global sensors with 61mp and faster read speeds & faster write speeds & something that will make the picture look almost life like improving upon the current sensors in some capacity Look pushing out more megapixels isn't the solution because pushing out more megapixels will only get you so far. There was a gigantic jump working from 8bit/24bit to 16/48 the next biggest leap should be 32/96 and that's where camera developers need to work with Adobe and the photoshop elements team to make it happen
