I know this is old but check the scene again. It happens as you describe it in the book. LJG touches Jamie's hand, and Jamie is okay with it, but then John does rub Jamie's hand with his thumb and that's when Jamie's face changes and he says get off me. Sam acted the hell out of that moment

haha this was great! I agree it was way out of character for Jamie, the previous episode too. What puzzled me is that when claire slept with the king to get jamie out of jail, Jamie just shrugged and was like well you did what you had to do. I get it's more personal with John but that man has done SO much for Jamie, to beat him and leave him like that was not the Jamie I know and love! Sorry I could not watch the scene between Ian and quaker girl. Ian's got little brother energy so it was so awkward! also jizz wall haha love it. cold!

Some thoughts: The first minutes had to wrap up Season 6 storylines. Matt Roberts said it was a challenge. I agree we didn't need to see Malva in bed with her brother. 🤮After Alan is buried, Season 7 began in earnest, the way it would have if they hadn't had to cut S6 short. ~When Claire threw the gem out the window they were still at the hotel. But I think they were at home in the book. Going to find the gem was going to be really difficult! ~I think that Claire had that black robe in France. Teri Dresbach said people in those times saved clothes for years and years. ~Many of Bree's 80's costumes were actual vintage finds! ~According to the set designer, all that glass that we see in the windows and throughout Claire's surgery is a subtle indication of how prosperous the Frasers had become. Glass was super expensive! Adoring Jamie would spare no expense when it came to his wife. But she didn't care for jewels (except to travel), she wanted medical supplies! ~My favorite scene was w/Jamie & Claire in bed grieving. I thought they were both phenomenal! There was an intimacy that came through that very much speaks to Sam & Cait's close personal friendship, having worked together for a decade. She has said that they act married because they act AS married all the time. They do have an intimate knowledge of each other that you normally have only with your spouse or partner. But their situation is highly unusual. At any rate, there was an extra ring of truth in their performances that made that scene all the more touching to me. I've never seen that kind of vulnerability on screen. It was on a whole other level. Y'all are a hoot!

The area that the Brits retreated to is called a redoubt. An area of protection & ambush. These structures were commonly built by the Brits prior to battle as part of their defense. To overtake it is unusual & definitely a win for the continentals. The German soldiers are the Hessians- fierce & disciplined. The general leaving Jamie's tent was Colonel Johson who was thanking Jamie for the rifleman's disruption of the Brit's charge, as they were saved by that action. Granny Gates is only seen when he comes to Jamie with the request to accompany Colonel Frasers' body to Scotland.

Buck is Dougal and Geilis Dunkin son that they secretly gave to another family who lost a baby and there last name was Mackenzie also bc they lived at Leoch and were part of the Mackenzie clan.and they raised him and he doesnt know yet but Roger will tell him who his real parents are. Claire told Roger about it when she showed him his family tree. So Buck is Jamies 1st cousin and Briannas second cousin He is also Hammish Mackenzies half brother. Jocasta is his aunt as well. Too bad he didn't know about all the family that could of helped them settle in the colonies. He appears to have Dougals famous temper (having Roger hung for having a hot eye for his wife!😂) So Jemmy and Mandy are his third cousins and his 7 times great grand children!! Crazy time travel problems!!

Jamie did not pledge loyalty to the crown to get land. He pledged loyalty to gain his freedom, just as every Ardsmuir prisoner did. He did not recognize it as his own pledge so he was not bound by it. He just had to make look real until he jumped sides. Which he planned to do all along.

The V FR is the marker when Jamie was marking the boundaries of the land. FR is not Frank Randall, it’s Fraser’s Ridge.

Apologies in advance, but I've only skimmed less than a minute at various points in your video, so far, just to get a feel of it. But I wanted to comment on this episode before watching your discussion on it. But the bit about the episode's length in comparison with the books makes me want to buy the books. The montage with the song was one of the most beautiful and one of my most favorite scenes and montages I have seen anywhere. And the references to prior episodes is well done: the orange (King Louis V); the rabbit; and the absence of Brianna and Roger at the dinner table. There's one thing that intrigues me is her doctor friend in Boston 20th century, and him showing her the 200 year old skull. The obvious reference is to Geillis, but I think there's more to it. I think he knows more about Claire's time traveling than he's letting on, and I'm expecting future episodes will reveal more of that connection. All in all, I love the unique take on time travel, instead of the usual flitting around through time and not actually experiencing it, immersed in it, or "living" in that time period. Other time travel based series treat the different times traversed as if they were just tourists and passing through.

My thoughts on the showrunner question is that there has to be a skill set unique to that of Showrunner vs Executive Producer. I agree that Maril Davis would be the primary female candidate for this because she along with Terry Dresbach were the reasons Outlander TV show happened at all. As for the plot, remember that there was a lot of drama with all the potential suitors from other clans. That’s got to be a major driving force too.

A note on "fighting wolves". Wolves are largely wary of humans. They will not engage like you see in the Liam Neeson film "The Grey". When Gabaldon erroneously wrote that scene, she had no clue as to the true nature of wolves. That scene in the books is stupid and continues to spread the myth wolves are predators. They are not. Wolves have more to fear of humans than humans have of wolves. They will not engage.

I think Brianna is graduating from High School. It is a true teaser, just a few images for all of us drowning in Droughtlander. It is too soon for any substantial teasers or trailers. As in all things, we just have to accept the fucking crumbs that they give us!! Can I have some more, please!

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. Like a number of others who have posted comments, I had so much fun listening to an intelligent conversation between fellow fans of the show's incredible music. I feel less alone in my love of the show. I'll admit, though, that I was surprised by your #1 pick; by the time you got there, my guess was that it would be one of the Gabrielle Ruiz gems, either "Good at Yoga" or "Women Gotta Stick Together." "Good at Yoga" probably would be my #1; I think it was absolutely brilliant, with the instrumentation, lyrics, choreography, and Rebecca's reactions. The "West Covina" reprise with (your good friends) Rachel and Donna Lynne didn't stick with me the way it did with you two, though I certainly would consider some of the latter's solo numbers, including "His Status Is Preferred" and "Face Your Fears," to be candidates for a top-15 list. I'm looking forward to season 2 and to more from both of you about the show.

What I love about Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's songs is that even though I completely agree with what you two are saying I still came out of the video going "wait what about this song! Or that song!" because there really are so many good songs! I started to write out like twelve paragraphs of my feelings about the songs (it's fairly easy to see why you took 40min haha) but I figured I'll save your comment section from that unnecessary comment overload. (Maybe I'll do a video about the songs myself though literally 10 min of it will be me obsessing over You Stupid Bitch. That song and so many of its lyrics hit home in the perfect way. I listened to it like 12 times the first day I heard it.) What I will say is my favorite that isn't featured here is definitely the JAP Battle. I do realize while I found it hilarious (I sent it to at least 5 friends) it certainly didn't have the poignancy of other songs - but what a great song to establish the Audra Levine character as well as her and Rebecca's history. Thank you for this video! :D
