Have you heard of Thom Hannum’s duple check patterns? He had all the ways to subdivide 16ths in one beat written down for percussionists since the 80s or some other shit like that. He’s also got eighth-note triplet subdivisions covered on a separate check patterns sheet.

I have not, but am checking it out now. Thanks!

Yeah, sometimes can be challenging at first but helps with consistently playing that rhythm whenever you see it. Playing these rhythms with different stickings is also beneficial for overall control, as long as you are doing it on purpose. Thanks for watching and commenting! Lots more videos to come.

Hi Leprechaun_168. This is for anyone looking to learn and practice common 16th note patterns, specifically the 16th-8th-16th combination in this video. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for checking out the video! There are definitely a few different ways to count 16th note rhythms out there. I have it written as an "a" but you say it like "ah" or "uh". I have also heard 1 tee teh ta as another popular version.

Huh? What notes are these? I've only ever learned one instrument in my life, and barely. It's the Piano. I only went as far as learning staccato and legato. And that was I believe when I was 11. I hated learning musical instruments ever since bcz I always got a fever after my piano lesson. Idk why tho
@BlaineKleinMusic2 ай бұрын
Hi @flmis! This exercise deals with playing four 16th notes followed by three quarter notes. Each 16th note equals 1/4 of a beat so you can fit four 16th notes in a beat. Then each quarter note equals one beat so you can fit one quarter note per beat. Thanks for watching and commenting! Best of luck on your musical journey.

Why not just arrange for the common layouts for pans?
@BlaineKleinMusic9 ай бұрын
Hi numanuma20. This piece is written for common layouts/range of pans. Marked is the minimum range needed so you can easily tell if it fits your pans. Thanks for asking!

Why do you have to write so specific ranges for each pan? Makes no sense?
@BlaineKleinMusic Жыл бұрын
Hi numanuma20. Are you referencing the ranges marked in the comments of this video? If so, I put the exact ranges of each part so anyone looking to possible play the piece can easily see if it will work with their pans. As you may know, the range of notes often changes from one pan builder to the next. You do not need the exact marked range, but must include the range of notes. Thanks for checking out the video!
