Bobby Hull came to Winnipeg, making the Jets a reality to this day. He changed the whole establishment forever, so that the players made far more money and have complete control over their destinies as players. Many times I got his autograph and sticks. I even used a stick almost exactly like his as a pro. When the time came, unexpectedly, to go to his house, he welcomed my dad and me as though we were his best friends for years! "Just in time for dinner!", unlike his ex wife, Joanne, who glared at the 11 year old boy, and his dad visiting Bobby. I'll never forget her, arms crossed, sitting at the far end of the dinner table, as though we didn't belong at the same table as her! Bobby and my dad talked about everything except for hockey, which was so awesome. Thank you Bobby, Michelle, Brett, and Blake. Good luck and all the best always!

It's depressing enough seeing an elderly person's head involuntarily shaking, do we really need the doom and gloom guitar to go with it?

Wait.. didn’t he assault a cop in Chicago fighting with his wife and beat up his other wife with a steel toed shoe and hang her off a balcony? (ESPN 2002 Documentary) And was a career alcoholic who liked Hitlers ideas? 😵🥴😵💫 There’s a name for that and it’s not a hero guys. 👮🏿

I remember standing in line at a Polk brothers store around 63rd and Kedzie in Chicago. Snowy,cold,winter day.Robert Marvin Hull and Stanley Mikita standing outside signing autographs in the snow and cold! My mother Mary and my aunt Kate worked at Santuucis Italian restaurant across the street from Midway airport in Chicago.Bobby Hull came in there for dinner a few times,she told me his arms were so big,he had to have special shirts made!Tom Filipiak

And Hull was all natural. Just hard work, possibly genetics, but just a hell of a player.
@davidrollins55942 жыл бұрын
Whatever Bobby did in his off ice personal life should not have any impact on how all NHL players should feel about him. He made the WHA and he made millions of dollars for other players. His signing in the WHA was one thing but his promotion of the league off the ice was even more impactful. He promoted that league better than any paid advertising. The NHL still blackballs him for forcing them to bring up NHL salaries substantially. Three players should forever be ikons for players and Hull is one of them. Bobby Orr and Gretzky are the other two. They are the three who significantly single handedly increased league wide salaries.

The topps was printed and distributed in the USA while OPC was printed and Distributed in Canada. They made more topps that opc so that’s what the price difference is

I met and talked for a few minutes with Bobby Hull when he was at a "Children's Wish Event" in Kitchener Ontario many years ago. Also at the same event, I met Eric Lindros, Joe Murphy and Brendan Shanahan. Had my six year old son with me at the time, and Bobby Hull being the great man that he was, knew that my son probably would not know who he was , but never the less, he got down to my son's level, shook my son's hand and said, "Well hello Jacob, I'm Brett Hull's dad." Which brought a huge smile to my son's face.

Someone said that Bobby coached Brett, but I don't think that's true. I don't think they had much of a relationship. Brett's greatness is an argument for pure heredity.

@@mckessa17 Or Gordie Howe. I also remember a Flyers player named Simon Nolet who was assigned to shadow Hull in a playoff series that the Hawks won. I remember the Hull brothers, Stan Mikita, and Eric Nesterenko, the old-fashioned clock at the stadium, and majestic organ, and the way the players would climb up stairs to the ice, which I thought gave the Hawks at keast a one-goal advantage.

Hull’s history of off-ice behavior - including rampant allegations of domestic abuse and racism - has overshadowed his impressive on-ice legacy for decades, making his continued ambassadorship a black eye for the organization. Hull was named an ambassador in 2008 - well after those allegations had surfaced - suggesting the Hawks didn’t care about them until now. But with CEO Danny Wirtz and business president Jaime Faulkner bringing fresh perspectives and a new culture of accountability to the Hawks as they seek to move the franchise into modern times in the wake of the Kyle Beach sexual-assault scandal, removing Hull was a no-brainer. Hull was convicted in 1987 of assaulting a police officer who intervened in an argument between Hull and then-wife Deborah. A mini-documentary by ESPN in 2002 included his previous wife, Joanne, recounting a fight in which Hull beat her in the head with a steel-heeled shoe, then held her off a balcony in Hawaii. Hull’s daughter, Michelle, who became a defense lawyer for female abuse victims, also detailed Hull’s history of alcoholism in that documentary.

Why is it no one in his family ever makes a point of this, or any of his "victims". Nobody is perfect - there was a short period of time when this surfaced in the 1980's. Now he has been with current wife for almost the last 40 years, and I certainly haven't heard of any ongoing concern.

Too bad he was FORCED to skate in Winnipeg, bc us NHL fans never got to see him play since the1971-72 season! I wonder if the WHA was blackballed by theTV networks, at the request of the NHL?
