I remember this vessel in the port of Vlissingen in Holland in the 1980’s, seen it many times but sadly never made photos of it in those days……

Very mint and beautiful unit, you should just leave it as it is. I have a rusty one and hoping to do a restoration because some parts are already not the original.

No history is told about this tugboat. It was originally build as “Maasbank” together with sistership “Vikingbank” for Dutch towing company “Smit havensleepdienst NRS” in the Rotterdam harbour to assist large seagoing cargo vessels. Unfortunately “Vikingbank” was lost in a storm and crashed into the pier of Hook of Holland in The Netherlands. “Maasbank” and later as “Banckert” served the Rotterdam harbour for many years. Legendary tugboat for a lot of Dutch people!

Why would you want to ruin a lovely piece of history by putting a motorized unit into the Raleigh ?

Sorry I don't make them to sell but I can send you the file to 3D print if you know anyone that can do that? Failing that, the large knob could be made of wood or really anything else..... Good Luck

You did a fine job of restoring and modifying this tug. And I like the music on this video, very "down home" and earthy. Who sings it? Wright Flyer, USAF (1968-1972).

Your forks are bent backwards a little bit. More worrying is the way you've got the rod brakes assembled, they shouldn't have to bend over each other like that! You have put the rocker from the left lever on the right and the one from the right lever on the left. Dangerous! "superbe" is pronounced "superb" not "super bee" which is a car from dodge.

Thanks Kyle! Good there are knowledge people out there on the "SUPERB"! I have corrected those issues and actually tested the brakes. Yes, they were totally wrong in setup... Cheers....

congrats on a fantastic resto, I think you had a good one to start with which helps, I have got 4 of them in various states of repair unfortunately most of them were flogged to death so piecing them together is somewhat problematic!! By the way the tyres can be a problem for this as rim size is odd (26x1-1/2 x 2) but you can fit a new 27.5x1.5 (40-584) and they are correct for cyclemaster rim sometimes the front rim of same size was fitted as a kit I guess, two of mine have this same diameter rim with hub brake fitted.

Excellent work. I’m actually in Westbank, BC 40 min. From your cousin. I looking for a RC tug kit. Found a few that I like on line. Have yet to find many in Canada. Mostly all U.S. Do you know of some kits available in Canada?

Very nice. I bought one already built and it’s “rough as guts.” I’m repainting part of it, putting in a new Servo and speed controller, Reballasting and adding a few bits. It’s been damaged, too. Your $40 buy was a steal!!!

as I sit here at my work desk looking at my own unfinished model tug, I often wonder where my model will end up after I'm long gone... kinda saddens me to think it will end up in a dusty pawn shop some where with a "move quick" price tag....

Hello, Sorry to be the harbinger of doom, I have built many of these for other people. Bankers was a twin screw tug with Becker rudders on fixed knozzles. If you find she works ok for you, ignore my comment. Good luck and happy building. Andy.
