Great idea, but I noticed a few things that I for safety definetely would have done different. First of all, NEVER take off the plus from the battery before the minus. One mishap with the tool and you have a nice spark that could make the battery explode if you are unlucky. Secondly I would clean the area around the breather pipe BEFORE removing it to avoid dirt falling into the hole.

If you put the pipe through the breather as i did in the video, the stand pipe is going straight. It doesn’t touch anything. Don’t forget to cut the stand pipe a little shorter so it doesn’t reach the bottom of the tank.

For the final step..... Insert the breather. Then the standpipe, but don't screw it down. Apply Epoxy to the thread of the standpipe, *then* screw it in. This will ensure a good seal all around the breather as it squeezes the glue out of the thread. (Much less mess!) . Only then insert the rubber pipe.

Anyone know what to do if the breather pipe is glued in? It's not budging at all
@agoravan Жыл бұрын
It should not be glued in, i struggled a bit to get it out, but maybe in your case somebody glued it in for some reason. In this case you could unscrew the entire unit, (although the method i presented is to avoid doing that), but i only recommend doing that if you know what you are doing and are confident enough to do it. Otherwise, ask a mechanic to do it for you.

@ShadowV if you watch the video again, you will see that i routed the blue hose under the van. My fuel filter and the pump sit under the van. And from the pump there is the clear hose that travels under the van until it reaches the point where my heater is located ( in my case it is in the middle of the van) and i drilled a hole and routed the hose back in to the van and connected it to the heater.

@@astronomenov99 about 5" the same and your dead right, the easiest way is to secure the dip tube on the workbench. You can get the elbows pretty cheaply from Iveco if you want to have one modified and ready for when you take the original one off.

I just fitted mine. I flatten top with a file so o ring can seal. I cut 20mm off the breather pipe. I drilled out to 5.5mm then screwed in the stand pipe. I then put a thick o ring and a copper washer onto the thread. I then slid a long 10mm socket down and tightened it with a pair of pliers. I have air tight seal inside and on top. I am not going to use epoxy unless I have to. I think the two o rings will do the trick. I also fitted non return valve at the stand pipe outlet.

@@alanmorris9598 how else can you reach the standpipe nut deep inside the breather tube? The only way I could was with the longest deep socket and by trimming about 12mm off the end of the breather pipe. The o rings are well beyond that so sealing is not affected.

Hello. Great idea! I like your video. Did you have any tank pressure loss / problems leaking around the hole you made for stand pipe? (A nut on the inside would help to make a better air tight seal????
@agoravan3 жыл бұрын
Hi Garry, thanks for the appreciation, so far i did not encounter any issues, and i am using the heater on daily bases. No tank pressure loss, when i open the tank for refill i can hear the pressure coming out, no leaks, because the glue that i used creates an air tight seal. The initial plan was indeed to put a nut inside, but that proved to be very difficult with the tools that i have so i just used the glue, and as i said, no issues so far. But feel free to put a nut inside if you have the possibility, as it would definitely help. Have a great day!

Isn't there the fuel float directly under the breather pipe? It could cause problems.

Hi, when i inserted the pipe for testing it went all the way down to the bottom of the tank, which makes me think that the fuel float is not directly under it. Hi really enjoyed your video I am looking at buying the same heater for my Citroen L3H3 which will be fully electric with no hook up. Can I ask two questions, have you run the water heat at 900W through your inverter yet and if so what was the result? The second question is as this is a 6kw model of heater do you think it is the right size for the van space or would a 4kw be better suited? Any advice or thoughts on this would be appreciated, thank you
@agoravan3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for your interest. I didn’t try the heater (air or water) on electric yet. Only on diesel. On diesel the water gets to 40 C in 20 minutes, very quietly. The full 6kw is achieved only when you run it on both fuel and electric 1800W at the same time. The diesel version is only 6kw, if you want 4kw you need the gas version. I think they are both suitable. Depends on your needs and budget.
