Quite small by modern standards - a Hardy 50 has twin 800hp engines. The Aruns are great boats though - so strongly built.

Great memories of doing the same trip in my Hobie 14 with a big sea and 30kn blowing and then seeing an American crew on the charter that I left in Kinsale about 2 miles offshore so I sailed over to them and reached past them on a wave at about 14kn yeha what a trip, Cork harbour showed up in no time yeha ahh the days

Yes she was the 2nd Arun built back in 1973 was 52 02. They changed later to superstructure we ar more used to seeing. Some say for the better as gave better view of crew on foredeck but there again, have had many RNLI lads say they preferred the aft arrangement as gave better protection to helm and a clearer view when towing brgds J
