my fan doesnt rev up on its own. even at 225 eot. I will try this mod, but I suppose if the clutch itself is bad, it wont work?
@motovlogs169811 ай бұрын
Correct the clutch is bad. They have a hard time getting going sometimes. Mine will over heat if I let it sit there when warming up, but once I get going and then stop it kicks on. This should help unstick it!

Did this today and works great. Should be great for offroading. When going slow speeds and crawling thru sand.

Thanks for posting. How did you set up the PID for the delta in torque pro? I have oil and coolant temp, but I can't figure out how to set up a simple delta display.
@adambatchelor44594 жыл бұрын
I tried this today. Ran it to one of the prewired rocker switches. Nothing happened.
@landybob83934 жыл бұрын
It needs to be grounded. Those switches apply power I believe unless you route it to the switch then to a ground nothing will happen

do you ever get a P0480 code when you switch on the fan manually with this mod? thanks
@MikeBosley Жыл бұрын
Yes! Now what?
@kevinhembree9097 Жыл бұрын
@@MikeBosley After a lot of checking, i found out the ground the wire that goes to the fan is also tide to the trans and a couple other things, when i would use this mod it was setting that code, it ended up being the aftermarket fan hubs i got were just bad or wired incorrectly and sending volts over the ground wire, got a new oem ford hub and no longer get that code anymore, 3 years now with no problems, i don't even have that mod anymore, fan works perfect now
@MikeBosley Жыл бұрын
@@kevinhembree9097 Interesting. I'm all OE yet I did get that error when I was testing things out before installing switch in dash, running wires through firewall, etc. The whole mod is working beautifully but I've not been brave enough to check dtc codes since I finished all the final wiring/soldering etc. 😁

Do you notice if fan comes on with AC like other cars?
@dontblameme63283 жыл бұрын
It's far more complicated than that. The fan engagement and speed is very closely monitored and controlled by the PCM based on multiple inputs to precisely regulate engine temps. It's a really bad idea to do this mod on a power stroke diesel.

Hello, great video. Great info. Just for your info "EOT" is "Engine Oil Temp", not "Engine Operating Temp". Going to be doing this mod very soon. I have a Bulletproof external air cooled oil cooler and this mod will make a huge difference in keeping the oil cooler on those long hills.
@dontblameme63283 жыл бұрын
Yes it's the oil temp. Know this... Colder oil = more friction = more engine wear. There is no problem as long as the oil stays below 235. This guy is clueless about what he's doing.

Great video do you know if I could use one of my upfitter switches?
@stephenclark92586 жыл бұрын
Moises Jaimes no need. Up fitters provide power. You just need to run the wire from the blue wire on the harness to one side of the switch and then on the other side of the switch it just needs to be wired to a metal ground underneath the dash. it's very simple
@moisesjaimes1706 жыл бұрын
Thank you I will try this out tonight
@chrisbloomgren8226 жыл бұрын
If you want to use an upfitter switch you need a relay. Upfitter switch are a switched 12v, the fan requires a ground signal. Use a regular toggle to ground or you need to include a relay to covert the upfitter switch to a switched ground.

Before I do this I have a question you are running the wire from the dark blue straight to a switch no ground no relay no fuse correct?
@stephenclark92586 жыл бұрын
Kevin Gentle first, do not cut the blue wire use a razor knife to just cut the shielding around the wire. from that point on you just run a wire from that spliced part of the blue wire to a switch inside the cab or wherever you want then on the other side of the switch to a good ground. When you turn the switch on it'll ground the blue wire automatically and the fan will kick on after a few minutes of throttling. If you have questions don't hesitate to ask via email. [email protected]. I should answer with an hour or so. I can even help you while you're in the process of installing it.

If the problem is that the AC condenser is not dissipating the heat because you are not driving then yes, The blue wire mod will help it.

A lot of questions about the delta reading that I use. It's manually added gauge that uses a calculation from ECT and eot to show the difference between them. I'll try to post the actual calculation you have to enter in order to get that soon

Here is the link to adding the pids that I have on my display. It also explains how to add new ones for example the Delta PID which gives you instant access to view the difference between engine operating temperature in engine coolant temperature. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHXapnyGlMppsKs

Once you install the blue wire to the switch can you just leave it on all the time or do you have to shut it off when not Towing.

71usmc you obviously dont understand the blue wire mod. Its not for people who's fan doesnt come on. Factory programming doesn't allow the fan to go 100% until 218° The blue wire gives you full control of the fan clutch.
