2023. I wanted to come here and take a look at the work that she has done. I watched this about 3-4 years ago and I felt the need to watch it again as I am older. This took place in the year that I was born and I myself was brought up in poverty. Things got worse for me and my family over the years, right now we don't have any money, and I can't even go to school, but I try my best. Unfortunately, the teachers in my school are not supportive and I had to visit the doctor a few days ago, I was told I have really bad stress and anxiety, medication was not recommended for my age and changing schools was a better option, but I am in a really good school, one of the top in the country, but the thing is, if you are rich and have good grades, the teachers encourage you, if you are smart and are in poverty, they leave you behind, you have to fend for yourself. I get myself worked up, causing me to physically get myself sick that it makes me dizzy and undernourished, I was very close to death and my mom got cancer 2 years ago in the middle of Covid. Education was a thing I have always focused on as a kid and I have always tried to do my best however I could've done. I have always looked up to Shakira as a philanthropist and I wanted to be like her. The way my health and grades have declined, I don't think my dreams will come true as there is no one to guide and help me at this point. I wanted to pass my English and Math exams at least, but I do not know how well I will do. My school talks about mental health, telling us to relax and not over work ourselves, yet they pile us with work, so much school work that tutors from other countries said we learn so much at our level that we could become teachers at a young age. I have to drug myself just to be able to carry myself in a depressed place, where I will be bullied more than obtaining an education. People told me not to take on anyone, but it has been going on for years. When strangers hear the school that I go to, the first impression is that I am smart and I go to a prestige school, but they don't know that it isn't "all that". I am thankful and fortunate to have what I have. Have a father who could provide food for me. That is all. My mom never had a job. My dad quit his job to take care of my mom with Cancer. All my school did, in those hard times, was call my mom on the phone, who had Cancer btw, and quarrel about me not being on online school. I didn't have a device at the time, they did not give me a laptop that they were sharing out to the students who didn't have. They lied and said there weren't anymore. This is where the trouble started. And now I may be taken away from my home because I am not going to school. My dad survived better than half of the people who have a ton of education now. He left school at 17, he was also in poverty but worse than me, he grew up eating dry flour, wood, he was hunting, he collected rain water to drink and clean himself with as well as the 11 of his other siblings, he was able to work in the market, clean people's houses..etc to get money, he even learned how to sew and landscape and he made his way through life. he did not have degrees and all sorts of education, only passes in math and english, but he made it through. These days, many people make things aware to others, health, crime, abuse, and it happens more than anything at this day and age, it's getting worse. People should really act instead of just talking and faking it. Shakira started her foundation at 18, while most teens study about drugs. I will be 18 next year, I haven't had the best childhood, but I tried my best to make up for it and live my age although half of the time I was depressed and suicidal about school and my future. I know there are people who are in worse situations but I believe in God, I pray and at some point in life things will get better. I only spoke about the education part of my life, I have abuse and other unpleasant happenings in my life but I put them over my shoulders and always try to be strong and move on.
