When this thing started, everybody kept mute. Why should anybody have a problem with a group of people who take pride in their culture, their past and heritage? What stops you from doing same? You think you can rewrite history today? Let’s not turn blind eye when it’s against a certain group of people. Since when did you realize this? It smacks of hypocrisy.

I hope and I believe you know that Ghana is a unitary state, not a federal state. If traditional authorities are to take control over their resources, then what happens to traditional areas without resources? Think about Greater Accra, some parts of Central, Volta, Oti and the northern regions. What major natural resources can be found in these areas? You raised good point but was also indirectly throwing shades. We can read inbetween the lines. Now everything is turning into nkurasesɛm...really? We’re saying enough of the insults; we won’t take it any longer. Your post has got nothing to do with constitutional amendments. You’re just irritated by a group of people who have had enough of the insults.

Who said central region and Volta region do not have resources, have you head of the lithium discovery in central region? Do you really know central region well? … Please take your time and read more about these regions, an efficient management of resources must be enough to survive every region. The problem is what we are doing currently is not working, Ghana is a federal state and notting is cast in stone, a system has to work for the people and if it doesn’t work, you change it.
@Afodwodegreat
@Afodwodegreat 4 ай бұрын
@@Kwameoffeixclusives I said ‘parts’ of the Central Region not the entire region. Ghana is a unitary state. What you’re advocating for can only happen in a federal state. If you know the history of Ghana very well, you’d know that the 1956 election was an indirect choice between unitary state (championed by the CPP government) and federal state (spearheaded by the NLM). Do you know what you would happened if Ghana had adopted the federal system of government? The entire Gold Coast economy depended on cocoa from Ashanti. What you’re advocating now was what the NLM wanted.
@Kwameoffeixclusives
@Kwameoffeixclusives 4 ай бұрын
@Afodwodegreat if you watched the video very well, I said traditional leaders should also demand and negotiate for the control of “part” of their resource to make business out of it. If that was what NLM wanted and Nkrumah did not like such an idea, there could be a reason, it could be still rooted in the idea of ensuring unity among the various state. I am not sure at that point there was no gold nor manganese but just that we had not found a way to control our resource and make the best business out of it. Gold Coast has been a gold hub even before Nkrumah so I doubt if Cocoa was the only resources to reply on. Others had probably not be discovered. What I want you understand is that the building of a nation is progressive, different head of state have different methodologies, the fact that Nkrumah did not do it then does not mean it cannot work if another header of state has enough reasons to allow per the justification by traditional rulers. Galamsey was not destroying our water bodies at that point, today we are losing it and you need drastic decisions to protect the environment. Today you cannot even rely on state agencies to protect the environment, do you want Ghana to import water? Chaley! It’s no joke anymore !
@Afodwodegreat
@Afodwodegreat 4 ай бұрын
@@Kwameoffeixclusives Is galamsey the only menace destroying the environment? We just like to pick and choose what suits us. Talk about galamsey, and people point to Ashanti. Every gold mining area in Ghana is experiencing galamsey, even in the five northern regions. I’m not in anyway downplaying the negative effect of galamsey on the environment. But it’s not peculiar to any particular region or people. When you make objective analysis, it makes your submission more credible. But you know deep within yourself that your submission is just to cast aspersions at a certain group of people. You can equally use your hometown chief and region as reference point, bro. He who calls for equity must come with clean hands.

@Afodwodegreat bro I am not from any different tribe as you think, we are bold to say what we are suppose to say without favor, the current state of 1992 constitution is not helping Ghana, traditional leaders must wake up.I am talking to all traditional leaders. There's a tribe called Annañg in Akwa Ibom State, Southern Nigeria, that shares similarities with a certain tribe in Ghana. They bear names similar with that of some Ghanaians; like: Edem Ekem Akpan Kofi Afia Attah Akpan Essien (my name) And so many. The current Nigerian Senate President Godswill Akpabio is from the Annang Tribe.

You too have your story, but your analysis lacks a lot of merit. You did a very crude cost analysis. First you omitted most of the things he mentioned. He explained himself by telling one of the interviewers that he will connect the rivers and even went ahead to mention which rivers he would connect. He mentioned rivers Tano, Pra, Ankobra and Offin. There is even a river that passes close to Ejisu which is close to Kumasi. I think the inland port they were planning to build is close to Ejisu as well. So, he was saying he wanted to connect those rivers and dredging them as well. That is far easier and less costly. Now coming to your 53 billion dollar cost, you used constructing a canal from Cape Coast to Kumasi where you came out with 200+ km. That is not what he said. Cost wise, it could run into exorbitant value using that analogy and simple arithmetic. So many options are out there. Connecting those rivers would not be that kind of distance at all and this does not need rocket science. You can use the map of Ghana drawn to scale to calculate the approximate distances between those rivers that need to be connected. Secondly, instead of going to the West (otew tambaa- draining wallet) for contracts who end up using the local residents to build at a cheap cost, you can fall of a lot of engineers to hire and use the same locals. Dr. Arikana’s African Diaspora Development Institute has lots of African and African American engineers. One of them designed the California bridge. You invite a couple of them with the know how where you can pay the. This would cut cost. You agreed with the possibility, but the rest are bashing him. If it was a Whiteman who said so, nobody would ask questions. We need him to inject some sanity into our political system because we cannot continue to do the same this over and over again for more than 32 years and expect a different result. That is insanity. Big brains matter most. The bashing is too much especially from those who are not enlightened. Probably rail transportation would be far cheaper to carry the goods.
@Kwameoffeixclusives
@Kwameoffeixclusives 9 ай бұрын
I didn’t bashed him, I said it was possible to build it but we must know the exact problem we are solving and the priority of the people. What is the priority of the people of the Ashanti Region? How urgent is this problem? What is the main challenge of exporters and Importers, does the region have challenges with its transportation system, is there any affordable alternative? Can we understand the cost and benefit of such a project and at this current economic climate is it a prudent project to embark on? The media only will have to ask legitimate questions for him to continue providing us with answers. That is not to say you are running down his idea. I want you to appreciate that the quest to know is not a matter of running him down. What his team has to do is do a proper feasibility studies and get the right estimate for us. It will be important for him to be a game changer who doesn’t just promise like the other politicians but promise with right data and budget. I only want Ghanaians to be convinced beyond reasonable doubt and this can only be done when we all probe further. Our generation must do things different, lots of promises by politicians are after thought. So Relax and let him get us the right answers.

@@Kwameoffeixclusives I didn’t say you were bashing him but the others. If you read my comments, you could see I mentioned you agreeing to the possibility. Others have actually come out to say it is a taboo to bring the sea to Kumasi. It is the connection of water bodies. Yes, I agree with feasibility studies and cost analysis using actuarial scientists but he did not also say he is going to do it come what may. Ashanti and I will say Brong Ahafo have a lot of potential and that is what he wants to tap into. He explained some pf them but these are some of the potentials he is talking about. I tell you none of the politicians in Ghana knew the Western region alone is worth trillions of dollars and he mentioned that in front of one of the ministers. They always refer from the book. The lies they have put there for them. Imports and exports potential is immense. Burkina is there as well as Mali and Niger which are land locked and can use that resources. What disturbs me is that these politicians from both sides talk big but they are being controlled remotely. Can you imagine mortgaging a country with its resources? That’s what our politicians are doing. They intentionally go and sign bogus contracts and cancel them later for judgement debts using their cronies overseas. People are afraid to question them. I see that Ghanaians are allergic to change and anyone who comes out for change is crushed. They advise the police or military to kill a few to put fear into them.
