The thing I appreciated most about TPIR was the continuity of the cast. Over the years of them coming into our homes they seemed like old friends.

I was 12 years old in 1975, and on a vacation to California in April, we toured universal studios one day, and while in line they were giving out tickets to watch the taping of the joker’s wild. All 5 episodes for a week were taped in one day, 3 in the afternoon and 2 in the evening. We saw the evening taping. I was surprised how small the studio was in person. Great experience!

On the black big card it says 11/23/74 so it must have been taped then and then aired on January 27,1975.

In 1979 the price of the side-by-side refrigerator/freezer was $1370.00. Unbelievably, that price translates to $5,190.00 in 2025...!

It's funny how we hate viewing commercials in the present but love them once enough time has passed.
@CeramicDalmatian10 күн бұрын
I think there are two things: Time + Nostalgia. My sister (born early 90s) is WAY more nostalgic for commercials from the 2000s than I am (where my nostalgia ends in the mid-late 90s). BUT as time passes and those ads become more and more of a time capsule, they become more interesting anyway. also If you watched enough TV, everyone was eventually guaranteed to see the same commercial multiple times. Once TV changed w streaming in the 2010s we kinda lost that, but before, commercials themselves are a kind of shared experience, just like "watching The Price is Right when home sick from school" was for most millennials and gen X.

That was definitely a dark day for fans of TPIR. Holly was as much of what made the show special as was Bob, Janice, and Diane. Shame of Bob for playing stupid games with their careers.
