Drove past the Boat House this past Sunday and spoke to a gentleman who will be the chef in the new restaurant there, Carol’s On The Water. He showed me the menu and let me look inside. They hope to open in roughly 2 weeks. We look forward to going!

Being right next to the little river/creek there, I'm going to guess it was a mill of some sort, and the water wheel long ago rotted. The milling stones, if they are not still there, could have been taken to use somewhere else.

Spent my early years (60s-early 70s) in Budd Lake and passed through a few weeks ago. Looks like they had just paved the parking lot across the street and were working on the building.

There is no longer a parking lot across the street. Back in the 80's to the early 90's, that place was a bar/restaurant and marina with parking across the street on what is now 102 Sand Shore Road, a private residence. It's a mystery as to where Boat House patrons would park.
