Hi Matt, very clear video thanks …. First one I’ve seen featuring this type of valve. I got a keg, also from a second hand shop, which has a Micromatic valve…. Similar but not identical Do you know if the same thing will work… gently depressurising the keg by unscrewing it just a little? Thanks
@mattgoss7024 Жыл бұрын
Hi, try pushing something like a screwdriver in the valve first to depressurise it. The danger is the pressure inside the keg so ensure it is depressurised before unscrewing the valve.

The valve on my one was stuck solid. Also the centre piece didn’t go down on the spring, it was the surround. Ended up removing seal, then getting a big screw driver and mauled the spring out. After that it was gravy.

Hi, I used a running nipple, they come in different lengths so ensure it is long enough. Good luck with your build.

jus as an observation, the big blue plug an socket, the socket should provide the power, an the plug end should recieve the power, that way you avoid the exposed pins in the plug end becoming live, and possible electric shock,👍

You are a very methodical worker, think things through thoroughly before every stage. I first used Q Max cutters when I had my Saturday Job when I was 11 years old, I thought they were fantastic then in 1967 when I was building valve amplifiers the holes were for the valve holders. Thank you, it was interesting watching your video.

Personal preference really. If I was to make another I would make it in a way that I could take it apart for cleaning.

Hi Matt, great build! Where did you purchase the internal reducer fitting at 13:24?
@NatanelRubin4 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the info. I’m thinking of doing the same thing myself but for fermenting tempeh. I’ve seen a lot of info and most of it reccomended having a heater and connecting that to the inkbird and then attaching the inkbird to the heater and the fridge. The fridge cools it down when it gets too hot. Have you somehow connected the whole thing to the fridge so that it heats and cools? Is that possible? I’m not an electrician so this wiring stuff goes over my head but I’d be grateful if you could let me know. I need it to stay at around 30C.
@mattgoss70244 жыл бұрын
Natanel Rubin Hi the inkbird controls both the fridge, for cooling and the the heater for heating. They are both fed from the inkbird, which controls them. Once setup you will be able to set a temperature whit the system will keep.

Thanks for trying this, I had a similar idea but wasn’t sure if it would leak on the compression.
@mattgoss70244 жыл бұрын
Beard Boy if possible put a copper liner inside the tube because over time the tube compresses it started to leak.

Do you use a wort chiller? If you do, won't the elements make it hard to comfortable set the chiller into the keg?
@mattgoss70245 жыл бұрын
I currently use a counterflow chiller,could not see a problem using an immersion type the elements are quite low.

Hi Matt, is there any specific way that the element needs to be wired up? Is it as simple as wiring a standard plug straight to the posts on the element?
@mattgoss70245 жыл бұрын
Beau Jorgensen Hi, depending on your county regulations in the UK just live neutral and I have connected the earth to both the element and the keg. Please note I am not a qualified electrician.
