is it just me, I see so many similarities of Korean food with South Indian food, we have ariselu(Telugu), which is similar to this, it is called differently in different South Indian languages. even Korean vegetable pancake is similar to utappam(variety of dosa with veggies), just that flour is less, or may be different. yes, Koreans use a lot of seafood, but techniques seem similar.

I just have this question about why some food are from or by someone else or somewhere else, yet it’s a Korean food? Like for example the oriental melon, is also called the Korean melon even though it’s from India. Another example is hotteok. It was invented by Chinese merchants, that bought it to Korea, yet it’s known as the Korean pancake. Like if the food/dish wasn’t invented or from Korea then it doesn’t make sense for it to be Korean food. Even the Japanese called “hotteok” this:“支那パン” . which means “Chinese bread”.
@Shaytan.666
@Shaytan.666 10 ай бұрын
Ah you are one of these "Korean hating Chinese invented everything" type of guys. Everyone is allowed to name their food how they want it doesn't matter where they came from, it's just food. Everyone calls it yogurt "Greek yogurt" even though it was invented by Turks or other ethnicities.

Half the heart of this dish is in America. Saltier and greasy American spam, cowboy beans and sliced American cheese make a more delicious Budae-jjigae. Of course I am Korean. 🤣🤣🤣
@_lovelylotus
@_lovelylotus 10 ай бұрын
Budae Jjigae is a pretty interesting meal. It comes from immediately after the Korean War, and many American army bases were abandoned. Koreans raided these abandoned bases for leftover food rations and made a stew out of them. And over a few years Budae Jjigae was made. It’s now a beloved Korean dish with some popular variations to its recipe. You're absolutely correct and I find it so interesting!

I mean, its history comes from the Korean War which explains American ingredients. Are you sure you are Korean?

those leaves look like phyrinium leaves, we use that too, to make pithas ( it's kinda famous here... odisha, India). It smells really good. I think she adds often in her cooks cuz of the fragrance that would add nice smells to her foods.
