Its hard to balance bringing the "just in case stuff" vs just going for it. I tend to be overprepared, so its a challenge on the motorcycle. My ride currently is a VTX1800 with saddlebags. I try to keep everything in saddlebags that always stays with the bike all the time., and doesn't get removed. Saddle bag Contents include: Bungees, TP, electrical tape, small container of blue lock tite, kick stand puck, spare fuses, jump starter, Lexin Compressor and tire repair kit, flashlight, Rain gear for both riders, gauntlet gloves for me, hoodie for each of us, Clear glasses for each of us, I have a small fanny pack that fits above the headlight on the inside of the windshield containing: $100 dollars in CASH for emergency gas money in case debit card dont work), insurance card, fire starter, compass, water treatment tablets, emergency blanket, complete first aid kit that is trama heavy, to include a torniquet. First aid kit is marked and visible on the outside, so if we wrecked, an observer or first responder MIGHT notice the first aid bag and assist us if necessary. Our bike also has the luggage rack so I keep a saddleman BR1800D bag on the back. In there is our cooler, extra gloves, sunglasses, neck gaiters, etc etc etc. For long trips, the BR1800 comes off, and the larger bag goes on with the extra cloths, toiletries etc for a weekend or longer/rally trip.

@@MrFifth-up9jz I haven’t done any slow speed work without a clutch before. But, I would say you have to rely on your rear brake to control your speed. @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures 5 күн бұрын
Hey Kenneth. There is definitely truth to that. With you being pretty tall, the stock bars are cramping you up. I’m only 5’ 9” and they are entirely too low for me. I would suggest trying some 10” or 12” bars. You’ll feel a major difference especially while turning. Hope this helps!

Full face limits peripheral vision so you are more likely to get into a crash , is twice as heavy, can trap insects that will sting you when riding, fog up, lever the helmet to wrench your neck when hitting the ground.
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures 7 күн бұрын
@@ninescott3922 modern helmets have a much larger opening to not block your field of view. I’ll agree they are double the weight, but honestly 3lbs for a helmet doesn’t really cause much discomfort. I also agree about bugs flying in. I recently switched back to a modular and now I can just flip it open if that happens. For the fog, you can get a pin lock that works for a year or more to eliminate it happening. As far as the injury to your neck, check out this study www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7264075/ they actually reduce head and neck injuries. Thanks for watching!

1,800 RPM might be OK for beginners but you should try and use only 1,100 to 1,200 for something like this. Great video, great production.
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures 7 күн бұрын
I know it’s possible at those RPM’s but, if the ground isn’t perfectly level you could start lugging your engine. It all depends on the situation. I feel that 1800 isn’t too high or too low. You eventually get the feel for what you need if you’re consistently practicing (at least that happened for me). In the beginning I was at like 2200-2500 which was insanely too much! Appreciate you watching!
@user-bk8db7ud6k
@user-bk8db7ud6k 6 күн бұрын
@@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures I have it to where I only use 1,100 to 1,200 for everything, but that is after a lot of practice. I would offer that it is OK to use high RPMs during your learning journey but after you get the technique down, you should add the goal of lowering the RPMs as much as possible. You should end up barely using any rear brake, and barely using any RPMs. I'm NOT talking about competing in cone courses where you need way more of everything to hit your times.
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures 6 күн бұрын
@user-bk8db7ud6k ok I get what you’re saying now. In most situations yes absolutely. But you also need to know when to use a little more. I practice brakeless now and again to help myself not to use too much rear brake. It became a crutch and that can be a bad thing!
