I was 12. I saw this scene randomly on TV. I then watched this whole episode online, out of curiosity. This turned out to be my favorite show of all time. This became my comfort show, with all my tears and laughs from the episodes. All these feelings because of this episode, specifically this scene. ILY HIMYM!

I am guessing probably I am overcoming with both kinds of feelings; immense sadness (given where show was headed at this point in time and also, that it's over now and no more wonderful moments and funny stories will be added to Ted's narration) and extreme happiness (that it happened and took me/us on a journey which can only be described as Legen....wait for it....DARY!!) PS: this show really helped me see the light during probably the darkest hours my life!! 🙏

greatest thing that happened on television...

This show really puts life in perspective for me. For instance, it feels like a lifetime ago that I got into Doctor Who. I got into it in high school. I liked HIMYM starting years before that. Its a fun thing to track now that NPH is gonna be in the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who. But this song has characters reminiscence on 20 years ago. Despite feeling so much experience in my lifetime, there’s only been half of that, 10 years, since I first loved Doctor Who. I’m only as old as Ted in the first season or 2. Life will continue despite all the experiences. The years keep coming and they won’t stop coming.

Honestly one of the things that makes this my favorite sitcom is how musically talented they all are. Occasionally, it will completely break immersion and be totally absurd, albeit awesome, but a lot of the musical moments are definitely things that would happen if a group of musically talented people were friends with one another.
