When I was a kid I lived a stones throw from there, I was a toddler when I first sat in the lap of what we called the wooden lady. I'm 56 years young now and remember it like yesterday.

Saludos.

I member visiting Zukerberg so many times as a child, and it brings tears to my eyes seeing how it's changed and yet remained so very much like the place I spent those carefree days on. I remember the Kekuli pit house back when it was intact and darting inside every time we visited the island. I remember the Chapel House standing as a landmark, and sitting on the bench by the beach. There was no graffiti on it back then. I remember countless picnics with my family and best friends at that picnic table, and I remember hunting wild chives on the beach in the late spring/early summer. I was always terrified when crossing the suspension bridge, and we looped back and crossed the causeway at the end. This video is a reminder that even though time never stops moving forward, a part of that place and those bygone days will always leave a mark in our hearts. Thank you for this video.

Tanglemorph1009 I remember going there when I was a kid too but there was no suspension bridge then only a sidewalk and the water would flow over it . When my brother was 5 years old he was swept down river from that sidewalk and he nearly drowned. We used to pick what would be like a wild spinach over there. Zuckerberg Island was very different then . I used to sit on the knee of the wooden lady statue it has been moved since then and there wasn't an enclosure around her. Nice to have seen Zuckerberg Island again even if only from youtube.

my grandparents Bill and Vi Triggs raised my mother and her siblings there...my sister lives there now....we spent many a wonderful happy summer up there on the lake. Grandparents lived at 211 Willow...it was a very pretty house back then- white and red roof with the chicken house converted into extra bed space for the visiting grandkids.....gyro park was a favorite place to play....

I've always wanted to visit Nelson. Such a beautiful place. Are the people friendly in Nelson? If anyone can tell me some fun things to do there it I would greatly appreciate it. I'm looking to visit a place that is the exact opposite from the city I live and grew up in Los Angeles CA. It now feels like an extension of Mexico. I'd like to visit a place where people say hello to each other.
