I remember watching the episode when it first came out and my own reaction was basically "No way. They're not actually using Luke Skywalker in this TV show." But then the evidence -- and the hope-- began to build. And then there was the final reveal.

​@@g.herbert3810 I feel like they are more so leaning on that now after the sequels than when they released. I think the narrative is slightly different. I think going into production for The Force Awakens, at most it was like hey maybe lets try to change up the cast a little bit. A female lead here a black lead there, and not much else in that regard. Then once people started giving genuine criticisms for the movies the director and Kennedy blamed it on misogynists, and other nerd stereotypes, as a way to deflect criticism. Then they leaned on the "woke" angle in regards to casting, writing and directing. That way they could fall back on that defense, and just say that only bigots have problems with our stuff. The real kicker, is in their attempt to be woke, they failed at it. It was originally about being aware of racial injustices and prejudices that lead to said injustices. But those radicalized on both the right and left camps bastardized the word until it no longer meant that. Now everyone has their heads so far up their asses about it it's just a buzzword. in short I think the execs at Disney are being intellectually dishonest, and don't truly care about the causes they claim to champion. It's all lip service. They pander to the crazies in the far far left with the pseudo woke bullshit. And they pander to die-hards with nostalgia bait, for example Luke in the Mandalorian, and Book of Boba Fett.
