If you cycle a lot and drive a small car, it makes sense. The rack on my car rarely isn't already there - so no additional equipment at all. For me, the running kayaking biking swimming camping all kind of come together anyway. I'm looking though for a way to carry my bike over water with the kayak. - maybe something like a simple bike towing raft (whatever that is) ; that's inflated or something 'n towed behind. If it were low profile, it wouldn't catch much wind and should be easy.

clever! I use a rubberized bathmat so that it doesn't slip but I like the bike rack addition!

nice rendition. ... the feeling comes thru. I've seen and love the whole ca coast, but ruined by the civil-servant beachmasters, who want more money every time you want to stop for 5 min. in the parking areas everywhere along the coast route. Make them free. Around '72, or so, when I was young, I was driving south around there in my austin america car, and picked up a young woman hitchhiker, who sang songs like this to me the whole way down to san simeon. ... just a fond memory.
