Works fine for boards smaller or equal than a standard euro card (160x100), but will not work for cards larger than 160 mm in combination with a pitch < 0.5mm, or 0402 etc.

I've had persistent problems with my S104 since its purchase. Its been out of commission for 5 months now, we've sent it to LPKF for repair with no success. I would caution anyone thinking about giving this company a chance.

no idea i think beetween 80k$and 130k$ it's not totaly easy to take this technologie drilling is more cheap S104 or s64 is more near to 20k$ and 35k$.... :-/

@@user-gk8xr8pd5f couldn't tell you yet. My lab just purchased pretty much all of this equipment to try and do small batch prototyping of some pretty high tolerance boards. But if it works like it says on the box, it should be profitable. 2mil trace and 1 mil trace boards hardly even exist in the commercial world, so you could probably charge like $12,000 for about 50 of the boards if you assembled them and made them look presentable. But I would say working in laboratories would be the main idea behind the machines

@Bonny _ Depends what you mean by school lab. If its for educational purposes then I would go with something else. A simpler milling machine using small rivets for vias would be much easier to use with students and a whole lot cheaper/safer. If you're looking at it for research purposes, thats a different story. The lasers are really quite good at removing copper and other materials on a very fine scale (about 2 mil trace/space for copper PCBs), but making fully functional boards is quite the process and they rarely come out as clean as production PCBs. The electroplating machine in particular is pretty bad.

Is it possible to set a reference point on the lpkf software? I'm currently using the u4 laser and its a pretty small board 3cm by 3 cm, so the laser has to be exactly centered on the board.

make a laser pcb drill. i bored of broken dril bits. make a tiny spot welder for layer to layer spot welding with hot tip. when we use flexible pcbs we can spot weld vias.inner insulator can be melted by heat at some temperatures.
