With guys like the ex, you have to communicate and let them know the things you expect. You have to remember they aren't listening to podcasts and talking to their friends like we do. It sounds like he really liked you but didn't articulate it as you would have liked. Some things they need to be told. No one teaches them and it's not a topic they are all experts at knowing about. You have to cut them some slack and make your expectations known. Then if they ignore the advice, that's different. I bet he would have been a great partner

Also as far as if he wanted to he would, girls have to remember that guys are not as into the rules protocols that girls talk about ad nauseum. They are more individualized and not looking for red flags 24/7 to weed through people. And often red flags are simply things he may never have considered or set in stone in him and we just may need a conversation to determine if it's actually a dealbreaker or just an easy adjustment that he was never aware of. I think a LOT of people feel that way but too many are dazzled by the lure of being a clone of each other. Always hold onto your values & individuality. You ARE the IT girl.
