I don't think any company would have these issues. Anyone that uses a lot of pallets gets them sent in or makes them on site. I would say maybe one in fifty has anything wrong with it and 99% can be solved with a nail or two. I am sure they are more to produce now but with the amount being thrown away, it's not an issue to anyone but old blue shirt here

I always preferred the plastic ones because they are easily 10 times more durable than even the blue pallets which are well constructed from select cuts of dense wood

From a food perspective yes, use chep pallets. From any other perspective, dude building materials are shipped on those wood pallets. They good.
