I wish they didn't vibrate like crazy sometimes. Clearly that's an old unit. That being said, new units are insanely expensive and hard to get right now. So most likely they will repaired again and again until it blows off the roof. I do commercial HVAC and am often forced to polish turds. I''ve got a 1979 Lennox at my house that sounds like a spaceship taking off. Not replacing it until the compressor goes out. New units last about 10 years where older units lasted more like 25+ years. I hope they do replace it so you guys can get some peace.

Thanks for your reply! They've been polishing this turd since 1966 when the building was built. BUT... I've been campaigning pretty hard to get this replaced. This unit is actually for my downstairs neighbor and considering that they're not the greatest neighbors either, I'm indirectly doing them a big favor to get the thing replaced. Mine was replaced a couple of years ago and life is good to that end. We shall see...

THE NEIGHBORS AC UNIT IS COOLING BECAUSE THE WATER IS COMING FROM THE EVAPORATOR COIL PRIMARY DRAIN PAN. THE SERVICE TECH NEEDS TO REATTACH THE PVC PIPE CONNECTION. 3/4" PVC PIPE AND MALE PIPE ADAPTER AND P TRAP. THE VIBRATION IS DUE TO THE BLOWER WHEEL OR CONDENSER BLADE BEING UNBALANCED. YOU CAN TEST THE BLOWER WHEEL BY ITSELF BY TURNING THE SYSTEM TO OFF POSITION AND JUST TURN THE THERMOSTAT FAN TO THE ON POSITION. MIGHT HAVE WEAKEN SUPPORT UNDER THE RTU.

Thanks a lot for your comment! The manager of my building says the AC contractor they work with has been here multiple times to address this problem. I believe it because I've heard techs walking up on my roof multiple times. However, there never seems to be a real solution. She told me they've charged the building upwards of $2,000.00 for the visits, repairs, etc., but I think she's getting hosed. These haven't done squat, or they're idiots / scammers. As a technician being called back for the same issue multiple times, can you justify the facts that there's still broken pipes with water leaking, the thing freezing over, not working right and about to blow off the roof?
