Yeah your oscillator module emits a constant tone. This tone goes into a voltage controlled amplifier module, which is sent a voltage by an envelope generator module, causing it to increase or decrease in volume when the envelope is activated (e.g. by pressing a key on a keyboard controlling your synth), which could be short and snappy or a slow swell depending on your envelope generator settings. In short a subtractive synths oscillator is always droning on, but when you play a note, you increase the volume so you can actually hear the sound 😊

And what about Behringer? Any suggestions?
@PaulWillocks2 жыл бұрын
I have recently got the Behringer TD-3 and for a 'like for like' recreation of the Roland TB 303 it is fantastic. The Aira TB3 is good but it does not recreate the 303 sound as accurately as the Behringer TD-3 (although it does have more sounds in the box).

i'm hearing a lot of clipping, and have no idea if it's the recording path doing it or the synth?? thanks for the demo, anyhow
@rorz9992 жыл бұрын
I have a TB-3 and it's definitely the recording path. You won't get that kind of clipping using the synth, no matter how you have the FX and parameters set

is there a way to punch in the steps, kind of like pitch mode on a 303?

Yes, you hold the note you want on the keypad and hit the steps you want to add on the sequencer row.

Does this vco a-111-4 sound the same than the a110-1? I mean each of its 4 oscillators are the same than one a-110-1 regarding the sound? Which one do you recommend me and why ? Thanks
@PaulWillocks2 жыл бұрын
The A111-4 is definitely the one to go for as the sound is identical and you get four VCO's in quite a small package. The A110 has the benefit of having slightly more control though.
@iantanner75795 жыл бұрын
Meaty! - i've been using 4 of these and 4 of the A-111 VCOs for almost 20yrs, - never had any issues, track really well, easy to calibrate - scale, range, offset, in that order... never tired of either module, - did just buy a *dreadbox* WL-oscillator though, just to get a similar sounding vco, but with the ability to sweep the entire freq. range via one knob...for sync'ing effects... quality demo btw
@CommiePinko1015 жыл бұрын
Are those sounds coming straight out of the TB-3, or did you have it plugged into effects pedals?
@waynesilverman30483 жыл бұрын
There's no pedal plugged in its just straight from the synth
@PaulWillocks2 жыл бұрын
Straight from the synth, there are also effects for each patch.

I have never considered using a quantizer with the DFAM, how do you tend to patch it up to include the quantizer?
@analogpoints69906 жыл бұрын
I connect the pitch output into a intellijel uscale 2 that scales the input. the two outputs goes back into dfam on VCO 1 CV and VCO 2 CV. An example of this from my channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epiahKihYs2LppY and kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoHYn6OPfJijhqc

This is really great. I think my Field Kit is showing up tomorrow, so Im scouring the web for fun ideas. This is one of the best sounding videos of this machine. Granted it mostly seems to be a mixer and shortwave, versus clanking metal and microphonic feedback. Its really nice though.

Thanks, you will enjoy the Field Kit. Unfortunately mine has had to go back to the dealer as the first mixer channel has died just a couple of days after taking delivery :(
