I grew up in the 60s and I don’t remember her or this song here in the US. It sounds like, from the comments, that like Timi Yuro Over here, the top of the pops, just eluded her and not from lack of talent, obviously.
@LindaCooper-i3f17 күн бұрын
Now the only way for Susan Maughan to possibly get a fan base established in the USA 🇺🇸 is to get herself booked for certain festivals such as the Homecoming Festival in Salt Lick, Kentucky; Court Days (in her choice of either Mount Sterling or Flemingsburg in Kentucky); the Ham Festival in Cadiz, Kentucky; the Hardwood Festival (once it returns to Morehead and is no longer held in London in Kentucky); and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

This is a follow-up to a comment I made here about a year ago when I said, "I agree, that within its time, I'm surprised this wasn't a hit in the Petula Clark mold. And I agree that it has a Four Seasons/Bob Gaudio-style vibe with the girl group overlay. I had never heard it prior today. How on earth did you find it?" To @957davidm, again, where did you find this clip. To my British friends seeing this, probably in your seventies like me, what was the setting? Was this some British TV show from 1964? I am just so curious.
@957davidmАй бұрын
@richtruesdell7276 This clip was originally seen in "Pop Gear", filmed in December 1964 and released to cinemas in April 1965. From there, I did some editing of the clip to make it resemble more a live / videotaped TV performance. You will note there is some silence at the beginning of the clip, where I have edited out Jimmy Savile's introduction. Cheers.

I'm reminded of Dusty Springfield's 'He's Got Something' that I have on the 'I Only Want To Be With You' EP, as the fine slice of Brit Girl Wall of Sound that this is. You're right that it is a puzzle why it wasn't a hit. Susan Maughan is one of those lesser-considered female artists of that era from these shores and perhaps half-forgotten, but she certainly sprang to my attention during a time when I was very fond of trips to Birmingham's now-demolished former Central Library for their collection of vintage 'Radio Times' and 'TV Times' magazines when I encountered a feature of a programme - from this very year, I seem to recall - in which she featured with a photo of her and I thought something along the lines of, "My word! She's not bad! Susan Maughan, eh?"

LYRICS (Written by myself because I didn't find them anywhere else) Make the moon shine Just a little brigther Make him hold me Just a little tighter This a bet on you (?) Make my dreams come true Make him Mine Make the hour pass (?) Just a little slower Make him squeze me Just a little closer Closer to his heart From the very start Make him Mine I can't bear to ever let him go Since we met tonight Just the thought of being in his arms Makes me feel so right So I'm begging you to Make the night last Just a little longer Make his kisses Just a little stronger Make his heart beat fast But most of all I has (?) Make him Mine I can't bear to ever let him go Since we met tonight Just the thought of being in his arms Makes me feel so right So I'm begging you to Make the night last Just a little longer Make his kisses Just a little stronger Make his heart beat fast But most of all I has (?) Make him Mine
