I'm 51 and was lucky to grow up listening to the Platters. My mother played her album quite often. This song in particular reminds me of her and brings tears to my eyes every single time I hear it. The Platters, such a wonderfully talented group.

Joe and I set seats for our dates ,club in Los Angeles.1957. Stationed at the Marine Base in San Diego, Came the time,turned out the girls had to stand duty...Joe and I had a table for four.On break the Platters came by , I invited them to join us.Surprised,yeah they did. Joe just could not take his eyes off of Tony Williams' wife..man! who could? Zola Taylor a red headed,green eyed beauty..We thanked out dates for the chance of sharing their seats...

Doo wop at its best. Watch you know about doo wop young fella.

Not buying it. None of these guys look old enough to have been original members. Looks like more of a "Drifters" type of group where there are several groups touring around under the same name, each claiming to be THE group.
@jamesflaherty95214 күн бұрын
You are correct. Del Vikings had 2 white, 3 black singers in the group. I know a white guy sang lead on this song back in the day. I’m from Pittsburgh, home of the group & home of great DooWop
@kb6kgx4 күн бұрын
@@jamesflaherty9521 Yes, right! If you saw the PBS "Doo Wop 50" program which, I believe, was 1999, then you saw Dave Lerchey, one of the two white singers. I don't recall if the other one was in this program. Original member Norman Wright and two of his sons made up the rest of the group for this show.
