It's pretty hard to find hikes in and around Taipei that are not 80% stairs. It's very hard on the knees. For a boy to whom "hiking" means the Derbyshire dales or Yorkshire moors, it's quite disappointing.

You still need a health cert if you’re flying AMC! Just need the quarantine tag before commercial flight (took us 10 mins or less to do). I know you’ve don e this now, but just for new people watching!

Sorry, I think I meant to say that you need specific paper work to fly commercial🥲 I was so discombobulated in this video😆

One thing I’ve noticed in my searches of Japan is there always seems to be NO CHICKEN BREAST available??? Lack of chicken seems common. I think I’d struggle the most with “how” to use the bathroom, as well as no chicken there while visiting. I don’t like seafood and I cannot tolerate much beef due to digestive issues. However I REALLY wanna visit there! 😅

Katie, I LOVE every video you put out but I'm sooo grateful for how raw you kept your pcs videos - especially the moments where you speak about how challenging/emotional/stressful transitioning out of the military, and leaving the place you've called home, can be! I never see those conversations being had!! We aren't quite nearing that season yet, but my husband and I talk often about the anxiety that transition will bring.

Oh my goodness this comment means so much to me. It wasn’t easy to be this vulnerable but you are so right. It is so difficult and I am even still struggling months later if I’m being honest. But I am glad I could share some insight and thank you again for the sweet comment🥹❤️

There is usually free parking depending on where you are going but in Naha we usually do pay for parking. It’s not much but I always bring cash for that reason🙂

@KatieLambie4 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late response! Both are widely accepted but I would always have cash on hand because there are places (like the soba place in the video) where it is cash only. I would recommend having a handy 10,000¥ just in case!

Hi! I’m PCSing there in June for the next 3 years and your videos have help ease some nerves. Please make a video on the weather there and what to wear. And any tips you think would help!!
@KatieLambie4 ай бұрын
I’m so happy you are enjoying the videos🥹❤️ I don’t have any specific videos on the weather but I will say in the summer it gets hot and we have a pretty gnarly rainy season so I tend to cycle the same shorts and neutral body suits because I would just sweat through my clothes LOL. I love a little sun dress in the summer time too because it is breathable! It really doesn’t cool off until the end of October and it can get kind of cold December-February. But it’s an island so the weather is inconsistent. Layers with be your best friend in the colder months and breathable clothes will be your best friend in the heat! But you will find what’s comfortable for you when you get here🙂 It can be difficult to find clothes here because of Japanese sizing so I recommend shopping before you get here but most stores ship within 2 weeks to island so you can always order when you get to Oki. I hope this helps!

Love your videos as someone who is pcsing there! Would love to see a video about living there, if you're on or off base. We are torn!
@KatieLambie5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment! I don’t have any videos currently on living on vs. off base but I will say, as someone who’s spent most of my life on base housing, I am team off base all of the way! We currently live off base & it has been great for us. My husband loves the separation from the base because he feels like on base is his “work life” and off base is when he can disconnect. I also love the options of off base housing much more than on base. Mostly importantly, living on base forces you to venture out, try local places, and immerse more in the culture. A lot of my videos that focus on life here in Okinawa kind of feature our apartment so you can get a little idea what it’s like to live off base but I tell everyone that I recommend off base if you can☺️ I hope this helps!
