Hi, how long does the music last in the reception? Does it play immediately when guest arrive or before guest arrive? The reception is 4-9pm. Does this mean music is played during dinner too?

Maybe if less planning the wedding took place and more towards the couple deciding if they're even compatible there would be less divorces.

I like your attitude far more than that of many modern day brides and grooms, who have actually taken to shaming their guests on social media for their attire and such "offenses" as not buying from their registries or giving what they thought an appropriate amount of cash.

Would it be appropriate to give the gift to your planner shortly after the event, once all the dust settles and you really have a chance to appreciate the magnitude of their work? Or would it be expected the night of?

Hey, can someone explain this wedding joke to me? I saw this happen in the hall near my brother's wedding reception. A female banquet manager was upset with a caterer, who had signed up for a one-person shift. She said she didn't think he could successfully do the service alone. She was sternly all, "I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen. You need someone there to give you instructions and guide you." And then the caterer said, "You know, I'm beginning to see why you manage wedding and receptions." What does his comeback mean? Whats the implied reason?

Tipping culture is insane. Why would I tip a $3500 photographer? If they want more money, charge more. I don’t understand. Why would they not just raise their price if they expect to be paid more?

I agree with all of these, although...I am wearing white shoes with pearls...but they won't show anyway, my dress is just TOO glamorous and too BIG (ballgown) that it'll hide my shoes, and even if my shoes do show.....it'll outdress my shoes anyway.

I wonder if my song choice for the ceremony is long enough for 8 bridesmaids? It’s 4:50mins. A dj would be playing the song, I Was Born to Love You - Ray LaMontagne. Any suggestions to make the song longer if necessary? Maybe find a way to drag out the song no lyrics?

Love all of these but I make invitations and I love doing big, important invitations with all of the information in them. Many of the guests from out of town are often older and are not internet savvy and having some of that in hand can be really helpful. I can’t tell you how often guests have thanked me because they had ideas for hotels to book or places to go on their extra days in town that were near to the venue. I’ve done several part invites in pearl folders and paper folders. They can be beautiful and really helpful if done correctly and if they and the postage are in the budget of course. My pet peeve for weddings is when there is nothing personal or unique at a wedding. When you go to five or ten weddings in a year and they all flow the same, have the same food and there are no surprises it gets a bit tedious and they are just not memorable.

Great advice, thank you. The only one I would disagree with is limiting plus ones. As a former single person, attending a wedding alone (especially a long-distance one), where you don't know anyone but the bride and groom, is an intensely uncomfortable and sometimes upsetting situation. And I don't think it's fair to exclude singles to avoid that dilemma. We chose to limit our guest list, so that our single friends can have someone else that day to enjoy the celebration, if they choose.
