This is a great technique! Much easier than the way I was painting the eclipse yesterday, lol. Question: On some of the videos of the eclipse, I saw some pinkish purple flares on the edges of the moon. If I want to paint some of those, at what point would I add them? When the white part was damp, but not wet? I don't want them to travel too much. By the way, I love that blue color on the walls of your living room!

I would wait until the white it completely dry and use a very saturated color so that it doesn’t sink into the white. Also, use as little water as possible so that the white doesn’t run

You mentioned a base… to create luminosity… opaque white… can a person use white gouache if you don’t have Coptic opaque white , as an alternative?

Yes you can use gouache, I always say to use what you have. Just keep in mind that gouache can be more translucent and may give you a more subtle effect.

As someone who also suffers from health issues I completely understand you. I love having things that I can do that is no fuss and just gives me some sort of creative outlet when Im too mentally and physically exhausted to do orginal artwork.
