This is melody and musical “interest“ (as opposed to “boring”) found in letting go of expectations of classical composition styles, and letting the calm of nature soak in. Nice!❤

Watched this multiple times. The music, dancing and cinematography is mesmerizing, entrancing, transformative. This video should have millions of views and the sublime Ellington piece should be as well-known as "Take the A Train". But why not? A masterpiece and a mystery.

I landed on this today as I woke up with the Ellington music in my head. It's the Lake section of "The River," which Alvin Ailey used in his dance piece, The River). I knew it I remembered it from Ailey and that it was Ellington but, for the life of me, could not remember the name. I remembered it as a piece from The RIver but could not remember its specific name. I've been all over the internet searching for this music and finally found it here in this video. It has always haunted me since I first saw the dance. I don't know why it came to me this morning, but that's not a unique occurrence for me.

There's nothing sadder than trying to sexualise a solemn piece of music like this. But the degenerate, post modernist mind is incapable of evoking true beauty. Just cheap pop culture imitations.
@patrickjankowski99304 жыл бұрын
Hi. To equate a woman’s choice of attire, her style of dancing, and the way that she presents her body with “sexualisation” is rooted in misogyny, objectification, and - perhaps - degeneracy. This might be something to work out with your therapist, rather than through art criticism.
@thebeatnumber4 жыл бұрын
@@patrickjankowski9930I shouldn't be surprised by your ignorance (and I'm not) but I take very strong exception to your misrepresentation of what I said. I NEVER condemned the young woman's appearance or choice of dress. I know the aesthetic value of the human body and I have no objection to its being depicted in art. I do however believe that expressions of art which are as strongly evocative as Elgar's Enigma Variations, do not need any sort of "embellishment". In other words, this video was a waste because it adds absolutely NOTHING to the purity and majesty of the music it accompanies.
@patrickjankowski99304 жыл бұрын
@@thebeatnumber If you want to hear a recording, why not listen to the recording? No one is forcing this “embellishment” on you. Also, how exactly am I misrepresenting your point when you chose the word “sexualisation” to describe it?
@jamesjaffe3 жыл бұрын
dang sounds like you were having a rough day when you wrote this, hope things start looking brighter. also, creativity takes great courage, usually better to make your own art than tear down someone else's.
