Hi Nick. I have to say if I could only have one antenna, it would have to be the Inverted L as it has both vertical and horizontal components to the radiation pattern, making it a great all-rounder. I think you should try it 😊

Have a look inside the box, you will be shocked at what you pay for! all of the units that you have there including the SP-9000 have basic speakers that you used to find in the old CB radios, the SP-2000 abd the SP-9000 does have filters, the SP-101 is a total rip-off, you are paying for a empty box with a CB speaker unit inside of it, if you need good sound out of any of these you really need to upgrade the speaker units fitted with something like the Visaton FRW10N Speaker Units, a much better performance.

I'm sure if you turned the preamp on, the S-reading would be higher. I guess Yaesu is calibrated with the preamp on as default. So when IPO is on, it attenuates the input signal. Best 73's.

Poor review: What we want to know is the receiver sensitivity; Audio output and distortion level; any noise rejection (noise blanker; active or passive), selectivity or adjacent channel rejection. These are the most important specs. I'm still waiting to find out these specs.

G'day. Other than a "radio" you would need an RF power amplifier of some sort which could output at the desired frequency, in a constant carier fashion. If you managed that, then all the steps in this video can then be applied. Don't forget you would need an appropriate input signal into the RF amp as well. A bit of mucking around if you must go down that path. I hope this helps....

Good video, I wish you would've explained a bit more how you actually calibrate the meter. Do you turn the knob you showed inside? Also, do you have to go through the 20W, 200W and 2kW knobs and adjust them all? What meter do you prefer, Daiwa analog or the digital MFJ you have there? Thanks!

SP-2000 all the way. I have owned mine for 12 years and I will never part with it. I assume the 9000 is very similar but seems overkill for my needs. The frequency adjustments with the 2000 make things very comfortable as a final touch for various signal types. If I IF Shift a signal due to QRM I can roll the original tone back in with the Contour and SP-2000 combo with ease. Just my take on it and thanks for the comparison.

The PL-365 uses "double As" or AA batteries, not "triple As" or AAA batteries. There's a giant difference in terms of emergency preparedness when the principle is to standardize on AA batteries for everything (as much as possible). This difference will make or break the inclusion of such a device in the emergency kit.

Neat demo! I've just ordered one of these, along with a pl-330. Seems like having the loop connected to the external antenna jack will make this a fun little dx machine! On the pl-365, could you just plug in the antenna, which switched off the internal antenna? On the 330 you need to activate a somewhat hidden ffeature.

Hi,good interesting video, I brought the Yeasu sp 9000 for the Icom ic-7300, well made solid build speaker, and well made control's 👌, but unfortunately that big empty metal box, enficises and exaggerates the lower frequencies, making it a little bass heavy, the low cut filter will certainly help,I've just ordered a PHITS kit FROM PHONEMA in Germany,its a sound damping kit,all pre cut and easy to fit,to me a purposely designed sound damping kit can only improve a great sounding speaker,the sp 9000 goes very loud and the filters are well worth it,,,,,when I receive the kit I will make a short video,,,,thanks and 73s from Rotterdam.

@radioaxe6964 see 1940 was the very first year of this model ok now first ever model came forward with great dial same as yours but mostly all green. The Handel model was almost always only sold in 1940 with a few sales dribbling over into 1941 Of course at that time the war seen production cease .In very late 1945 a few of this model emerged again ..ah but in the same case, yet devoid of the handles. See your one how it has the badge the column raising upwards. Ok well the 1946 into early 1948 models were mostly produced bearing the Peter Pan label. Same chassis but by this time they were emerging on the 5 valve circuit form. The very earliest models produced during 1940 were the now super rare 4 valve models . One of which iam working on today . Good sets but there are very few around nowadays. Steve

Fine result for a portable station. I am thinking about such a HyEndFed for my portable "POTA"-Activities........ How satisfied are you with the performance especially at 15 and 80 meters? Have you already been able to gather empirical values? One also hears from time to time what about alleged RF radiation that should cause such an antenna. Have you ever had problems there or rather not?
@radioaxe6964
@radioaxe6964 Жыл бұрын
I gave never experienced rf problems out in the field as I only fun 100w. I sometimes do when running higher power, say 400w, however an inline rf choke at the radio end makes a huge improvement in reducing rf comming out my external speaker.

Nice video. It all makes sense. I just received my CN-901HP. It hasn’t even been connected yet but shows an indication of 9W Fwd and 2.5W Rev. This is not an electrical calibration problem since the meter is not powered. An attempt at zeroing the meter using the zero set screws using a small jewelers screw driver makes absolutely no change to the meter movements. Is this device defective? I made a call to Daiwa’s US distributor support who tell me that there is nobody to take my call. The retailer does not answer their phone.
