After 40 years of interlock, due to a few hand injuries etc., I've gone to baseball grip from the tee up to about 50yds in. Then I go back to interlock for the 'feel' around the green that has always been pretty solid. Enjoyed your round....

Remember he said "it was a big mistake listening to others opinions". So don't listen to this guy's opinion? I have no idea how the grip would make you hit it fat or thin. I get not being able to hit a draw as easy but the grip made you hit it fat???????? Seems more like "I need content for my channel". But again he said listening to others opinions was a mistake, remember that.

So I was having problems with my right elbow and left hand ... Pain and suffering after each round! I am a 2 handicap and have a pretty firm swing and solid game.... Never ever would have dreamed of grips on my clubs being my problem with injury and slightly inconsistent results with the game. I dove in and put a full re grip on all clubs in my bag with the JMX zen lite medium size and I will never go back to standard grips ever again!! My first round of play with maybe 10 balls on the range.... I posted a 68!!! So about four range sessions and gap sessions later, I am so very impressed! I have actually been able to FEEL where the club is throughout my entire swing and it's so wonderful! At 47 years old... Maybe senior tour!!! LOL - great review buddy! Cheers

Well that sucks. Personally I switched to jumbo max mid size the beginning of this year and I’ve been killing it. I’m so much more consistent and I will NEVER go back to toothpick grips. When I pick up my buddies clubs it feels as foreign to me as breathing water.

Interesting... I actually find it way easier to draw it because the fatter grip gives you more torque to close to face down. Skinny screwdriver vs a big handled one, you can turn them down more. I find this easier to control than a small grips where it's hard to know how much to turn it down. Everyone is different though

I use JMX ultralight (XS) on my driver with (S) on my irons. My driver I love which I hit straight 70-80% of the time. Ironically I have the opposite problem that you have... My irons tend to draw and sometimes over draw when in reality I am trying to keep my shot straight. Maybe I should try those grips out if your shot shape is straight and that is what I'm seeking.

I had very good results with the JMX ultralight Medium throughout my set. I tended to miss everything left due to a strong grip and a in to out club path. I hit it higher and miss way less left more consistently with these. +1.6 handicap currently with multiple rounds under par with the grips the last month or so I haven’t noticed any inability to work it left but it has allowed me to hit a few fades here and there when I really try to

I think you need the tour series bro. What needs to be explained on the site is set make up. If you’re using shafts like a KBS tour or Ventus red or any high launch shaft use the ultralite or zenlite. X100, project X tip stiff shafts use the tour. But if you want to draw the ball. Tour series. If you want to fade it. Zen lite or ultralite. (But that’s general test from me and a group of people) And I know they say the site is accurate but always go a size down or two. And bend all your irons 2-4 degrees upright. Me and my boy have spent a lot of money on these grips testing them to find the keys to success. Hopefully this will help.

think the moral of the story here is "quite hands" is actually BS. Wrist and hand action is essential to strike the ball and keep the club on plane. a larger grip is a personal preference and not part of a technical correction. find a sweet spot between: *1* being able to fully and freely move your wrists/hands, *2* a secure hold on the club and *3* comfort. go too far in one direction and you will loose one of the 3. A golf swing is the same as a throwing action (in terms of bio-mechanics): you cant throw a ball very well with "quite hands". also sam, if you like the rubber on the zen lites in the rain, try "IOMIC (brand) - STICKY Midsize" they have the same synthetic rubber on them thats great in the rain.

Ive a feeling the problem isnt the grips *kind of* You mentioned you cant feel the club and getting inconsistent strikes. Highly likely its a swing weight issue. Especially full shots where you cant feel the weight of the head. Alot of people put jumbo grips but forgot to add lead tape to the head to offset the weight at the handle. If not, The weight off balances your club and makes it feel different.
@SamKingGolf
@SamKingGolf 3 күн бұрын
Perhaps! I didn’t fit them… why do you think they are SO good on the partial wedge shots?
@Qaloso
@Qaloso 3 күн бұрын
@@SamKingGolf i find dinky shots (partial/chips/short punches)you tend to slow down, feel the head and let the club swing. Wedges are built heavier swing weight from factory anyways so a lighter swing weight point from those jumbo max’s probably didnt mess you up or even you benefited from a lighter feel wedge. I play d3.5 for woods, d3 for irons and d5-d7 on wedges. But i built it to feel the same when I swing it because of the length and force of swing. Full shots where you put more force tends to be weird since it probably didnt feel stable. Swing weight is overlooked but it’ll affect tremendously if it’s off.

smart approach. try increase the size in small increments. the size sam used from jumbomax would be 2 sizes up from a standard midsize. standard jumbo would sit in between the two. Winn do a jumbo size that keeps the weight closer to a regular grip(56g) weight is something to be mindfull off when sizing up. a standard midsize grip is 55g to 60g. but i have seen standard jumbo size grips from lamkin that are 80g, which would massively effect the balance of your club. having said that, some people really like a heavy grip. the grips sam uses (jmx zenlite "XS" would be 56g, although 2 sizes bigger than midsize). jumbomax and winn are able to manage the weight of their grips better by making them from foam and not rubber. another benifit of a foam grip when you size up is less torque. jumbo grips made from rubber are essentially just big hunks of rubber compared to their smaller counterparts, so they can feel "twisty" or "torquey" in the hands as they lack the rigidity of foam - this isnt a problem with standard size rubber grips as they are just a thin layer of rubber over the golf shaft - when you use a smaller grip the shaft itself provides the rigidity.i would try new grips on driver, your favorite iron and your favorite wedge. hope that helps.

Can hear my friend giving you some advice on where your shot landed on the 13th (can also hear my missus being impressed with your tee shot haha). Your shot on the 10th wasn't a problem, think we mentioned at the time that it landed well clear of us, all good. Really enjoyable course, especially with all those "blind" approaches and tee shots. Playing into the wind. Your ball flight isnt t too high. You're just hitting it too hard. The harder you hit it the more it spins and the more it get scooped up by the wind. Directly into the wind, even if you club up, if you hit it hard it won't work. Take a 7iron instead of a 9iron, for example(2 clubs up), choke down an inch, narrow your stance and just put a pitch/chip swing on it- the ball will come out low. The narrower stance takes care of ball position.

Be sure to watch Sherm’s 25-4 handicap video on our channel, and make sure you’re doing all that non-swing related stuff he shows you. It’s not a short video, but it’s worth it and he spent a lot of time on it. We see you got the JumboMax grips. Those helped Sherm a lot and he talks about them. It’s important to remind everyone that those grips are auto-blocking, so they don’t let you turn the club face over as hard, and most shots will air to the right with them. They require a swing adjustment if you were already hitting most shots right before. Sherm likes them because he feels like he really has to emphasize the finish, and rarely sends a hook, so it’s predicable, vs. a constant two-way miss. We’re rooting for you Sam! Feel free to DM if you want to bounce ideas for going lower. Cheers! 🍻

I think your attitude is pretty good / improved from the past and you’re being honest about needing to work on things. For the lag putting, I would consider never hitting the same putt twice. Penick as well as numerous others have suggested the same, I believe. Even if you have 3-4 balls, then move the line and distance enough that each putt is unique and this will create better feel, in my opinion. At least something different to try!

I think you are indeed pretty brave filming a live competitive round and risking all for the camera. So well done for that. I only know one other youtuber who has done something similar recently. He is also WHS single digit and went around in the 90's.But like you he still posted the video. I myself have managed to get down to 12 , but its been a month or so since a decent round of 81-83. When I can, I always put my hcp on the line through golf England or in a competition. Frankly I am just fed up with the inconsistency and the uncertain outcomes of what is termed the conventional golf swing. From a personal perspective I am working on a swing that is designed to reduce the variables that lead to frustrating golf. It will also include not using driver or woods of the tee and fairway. But as you demonstrated in a recent video using a 4i off the tee can still yield a score in the 70's. I will watch your progress with interest.

Most common golf swing error. Over the plane through the ball (slight over the top) with the clubface slightly open before impact. Lots of fixes, but yours is mostly because the takeaway is too inside. At your level, just think a little more closed clubface on the backswing, even just 18 inches into your takeaway. Your natural ability will take over (you’ll feel that if you don’t swing correctly you’ll smother hook it; you won’t.) Little mismatches lead to big curves. When you then tense up or swing harder, it makes this particular combination (spin axis) worse.
