Is it safe for dogs and chickens?
@DoItYourselfPestControl
@DoItYourselfPestControl 5 күн бұрын
This is safe if you follow the label instructions. This product can be sprayed in pet areas such as bedding, but not on pets. In regards to chickens, it should not be sprayed near their feed, sod/grassy areas that they could eat, and eating areas, as well as near water sources such as ponds. Animals are safe once it drys, but a good rule of thumb is wait 2 hours. Please give us a call if you are unsure how to apply. The label link can be found here: docs.diypestcontrol.com/SPEC/LABLES-2/DuraFlex_ZC_Label.pdf

Some chickens will eat spotted lanternflies, but others may avoid them after one taste. Lanternflies may be unpalatable to birds, more research is needed. Other predators of the spotted lanternfly are praying mantises, spiders, ants & wasps.

Yellowjackets also build paper nests but they’re enclosed unlike the exposed nests of paper wasps

Good identification tips, although as a warning there are 13 species of yellow jackets in the Midwest U.S. including the bald faced “hornet” which despite its name, being black and white and also making paper nests, they actually are yellow jackets. Some species burrow and nest underground, some reuse existing tunnels made by mice, snakes and rabbits, some like the German species nest above ground in opportunistic places such as stumps, low lying bushes, the crevices of fire wood piles, nooks in walls and in between walls (which is why you never want to plug the entrance/exit to a nest in your walls because it will cause them to angrily go deeper into your house and spread out more through your walls), things like grills that haven’t been used for long enough, even cars can hold nests big enough to house a thousand workers…I was checking out this seemingly abandoned, rusting ‘50s pickup that I found while riding around on a bike as a kid and noticed they built a really big nest under the hood. By the markings on the thorax, abdomen and around the eyes, the first picture looks like the German species and the second looks like either an Eastern or a hybrid between Eastern and German.

Yellowjackets vs. Paper Wasps 🐝 Yellowjackets: Aggressive, robust, nest underground, bright yellow & black, short antennae, thicker waist, and short legs. Will attack for no reason! Paper Wasps: Less aggressive, slender, umbrella-shaped nests, brown with yellow highlights, long antennae, elongated waist, and longer legs. Yellowjackets have large, aggressive colonies, while paper wasps form smaller, less aggressive groups.

I just found a medium sized spider in a little room under the stairs and the room is bright not cluttered (it used to) the only things in it is a small chair and a tv stand made of plastic pipe it is in a basement but I don’t think it’s damp or warm Infact it’s super cold
@DoItYourselfPestControl
@DoItYourselfPestControl Ай бұрын
Spiders can be found anywhere where there is a food source, aka other insects. Dark, damp areas like basements are common spots for spiders. However, spiders can thrive in warm, bright places, like the sunny spots in your garden.

Bublee bees are very social, and do make honey! However, they don't store large quantities like honeybees. Bumblebees only make enough honey to feed their colony for a couple of days during bad weather.

I live in Wisconsin, and my last apartment was across the street from a huge park that had dozens and dozens of old growth apple trees leftover from when it had been a farm. The stink bug problem was SO BAD every fall when it started to cool down that I was vacuuming up 10-12 PER DAY at times. The city eventually had to cut down the majority of the remaining apple trees in an effort to control the stinkers. It was terrible.
