Far cry from 1975, 3723rd BMTS Flight 310 Mar-May 1975. I got to come home so-to-speak when I became the 37th Training Wing Historian. Man what changes. Loved it.

Three questions, because I'm thinking of enlisting: For the gas test training, what if you just held your breath? Would the gas-only impact your eyesight or your breathing as well. Also, in live weapons training, do you fire live rounds without earplugs, to get the "full experience" or not.

If you want to enlist in the military that has no stress, the Air Force is the one to go into.

I went through Lackland in June 1966. Basic was all of 4 weeks. I guess they needed bodies to send to Nam. It was a lot different and I don't remember as much military stuff( army like training).

These propaganda films are nonsense. There was not Sunday School at Lackland when I went through Basic in the late 60s. The Draft was in high gear and no one wanted to be there. The "Real Air Force" (anyone know what that is?) was totally different. No one wanted to be there and people were stuck in a four year contract. Most of the training was useless on the outside and the plethora of 20 year SSgts and 25 year TSgts really brought the AF down. The freezes of the 50s were the blame and the desire to honestly evaluate people and the introduction of the WAPS totally destroyed people's careers. One can not put a number on the performance of a person and not expect that number to follow him or her around for 5 years or more.

Thank you so much for posting this! Someone close to me just arrived at Lackland for their first day, and this video has been very comforting to watch while writing my first letter. I look forward to seeing them on your video!!

You changed the serial number?????? What kind of idiots are you people? The aircraft has a history of its own and that should have been recognized. I went through basic training in September of 1974 in the 3708 BMTS and that aircraft was displayed in front of the building. It was in SEA camoflauge like the reserve units that were called up after the seizure of the USS Pueblo by the North Koreans. It should have stayed in those colors. If you wanted a new paint job, fine as long as you keep the correct serial number and preferably from a unit it served with. As it is you have it in the markings of the 78 TFS, 81 TFW from RAF Woodbridge in England. The Wing patch is missing. That is not how you do things! Farggin iceholes!
