I read a lot of literature and research wgat the literature is saying. 5min in he has not said anything yet that is of any substance. "Speech of another kind", "Virtuous man is not virtue itself". It sounds clever but says nothing. Talk about beating around the bush. Finally 5min 30s he starts to describe something of substance. So skip to that point but he is waffling and could say what he has to say on a fifth of the time. Me thinks said an loves the sound of his voice.

Allen Grossman was at Johns Hopkins when I was in college, and even though I was not enrolled there, he kindly saw me in his office and we discussed poetry--my own and the craft in general. I was only one of many grateful students in his lifetime. I miss him very much.

This scene was perfect until the stupid dialog line.

Professor Grossman was my teacher at Brandeis in the mid-1970s. Although my specific interests are in ancient Latin poetry, Grossman was the person who really taught me how to approach poetry and he was a formative influence on my life. It is magical to hear his voice again. Although this recording lacks the video I can see him vividly in my mind's eye, laughing, scowling, and imparting his wisdom in his oracular fashion. Wonderful!
