This was a great video. You answered so many questions I had about commission painting, and it has convinced me that I probably can't do it. I'll just enjoy the hobby, and not worry about making money from it. Your videos are awesome. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks for sharing!!

Appreciate you giving this rather big departure from my normal constant a try. The time sink is just beyond I find with commission painting. Finding time to do my own projects is basically impossible.

@@BUNKER6 Thank you for giving us a look behind the curtain, and for being honest with all of us. You are clearly a very talented person, and I trust your experience. I am definitely the sort of person that would destroy the hobby if I were to turn it into a job.

Much appreciated for your kind words. You can always do the halfway point which is just paint and sell miniatures when you feel like it and if someone asks for more work you can always tell them a future time you will be more available for their consideration.
@Paranormal-Stupidity3 күн бұрын
@@BUNKER6 That's a good idea. I sometimes paint random miniatures that have nothing to do with a current project. I usually end up displaying them. I guess I could sell them instead. Thanks for the advice.

IIRC, the marine in mk6 armour with the mole mortar was one of the little figures that was usually included in the original Adeptus Titanicus titan blisters at the start of the 90s, before Space Marine was even announced as a separate product - I think I got mine with some Warhounds. One day I swear I will finish painting my Epic 40k chapter - it was about 75% complete (yes, that's a lot of Rhinos).

Indeed. Briefly mentioned this point near the end of the video in regard to a hobby becoming job, therefore no longer having an “escape” as it were. I have never made a video like this and the chapter idea makes a lot of sense. I will try to add this in tomorrow for future viewers. Thank you for watching and listening.

Thanks for the comment. There is a fair amount to answer here. I recommend making sure you’re getting things as close to box art standard as possible. If you’re even 50 percent of the way there then that means you learned a lot of the foundational parts of painting warhammer stuff. You will want to watch video that teach you techniques you are not familiar with and try to get consistent results. You’re not trying to be the best painter in the world. You’re trying to be a damn good batch painter and paint to a schedule consistently. Putting stuff up on eBay is how I started. So that’s what I recommend. People will ask for work if they like what they see from sales you’ve made to them prior to them asking for a specific commission. Drop me a message on k the discord if you need any further advice. Cheers.

So glad I found your channel...what an absolutely stunning board! I love how you went all cinematic with the presentation. Did you use a slider by chance for some of those shot? I went HEAVY into Legions Imperialis but haven't done much in terms of assembling the units as I have mainly been focusing on the terrain. I even bought the Civitas Road tiles (I know, I know) as I wanted to cut them up and make some more interesting grid patterns. As for the buildings, I've got a mix of GW and GDT. I think everyone has printed the domed building as well...don't want to mention the artist's account but it's a great model and pretty much a like-for-like with the GW kits. Have you seen the Sector Imperialis terrain that a modeller did for 28mm scale? It works extremely well at LI scale too. I really like your paint scheme ... going to have to check out your other painting videos.

Thanks for your kind words and thanks for watching! Yes I used a remote slider for a majority of the shots. I have been slammed with real life stuff hence no new content for a while. But I’m close to wrapping some projects to hopefully I can get back to the channel then. I’m not familiar with the Sector Imperialis prints. Would be great to see them!

Looks great and the colour theory of wanting things to pop out at that scale is so important. Different colour schemes work at different scales and what works at 28mm won't necessarily work at 10mm.
@BUNKER63 ай бұрын
Yeah scale can really change how a scheme feels. Something’s almost disappear when the scheme is wrong at this scale. Green Dark angels would be really hard for me to make look interesting in this scale for example.
@walksinthedarkness3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think any of darkened coloured factions would look bad at that scale. The darker colours take away from the details and don't draw the interest, it makes sense now why back in day the 'Eavy Metal team used a lot of primary colours for their Epic minis.

This is a great looking table. It is really nice to see a city laid out that looks like it is still a functioning district and not a bombed out wreck. Excellent work. Glad you stuck with it, even if the circumstances were sad. Gotta say though, 28mm is no way close to current GW "normal" size for 40k and AoS - they are more like 35mm these days (works out got the same scale creep up as the Epic range from 6 to 8mm)
