why not associate fy and fu with the material properties, like E value? right now it is very clunky to modify fy to say 230 MPa for historical steel members?

Hi @andrewrae8064. Yield strength varies from section to section as the thickness of the elements determines the yield strength, so different materials would be required for each section. While yield strength is used in steel design, Young's modulus in the materials is only used in analysis. The Young's modulus value in steel design is as per the relevant code. For old sections, you can check out SPACE GASS's standard libraries like AustOld and Aust250.

Hi @ykn9462. Unfortunately, the Eurocode concrete design module is not on our current list of features being developed, hopefully, sometime in the future.

Can I apply wind loads automatically for manually created portal frame??

Hi @NipunaMalliyawadu. Thanks for the question. Unfortunately, no. You can calculate the wind pressure using the wind load calculator and/or CHECKWIND integrated version (if you have that). However, you would not be able to automatically apply wind loads for a manually created portal frame. If you have any specific technical queries, please send them to [email protected]

Hi, Thanks for the video. What would you be doing if i want to model the internal forces of a UB beam through plate analysis? What would be a good reference?

Hi @foonhaocheng3505. Thank you for the question. You could try modelling the cross-section using dummy members and then use the extrude members tool to create a member out of plates. Then you can load the plates, run analysis and view the plate stress contours or buckling mode shapes. This is the worst ever software that I have worked with. I used it for 6 months and hated every minute of it. Unfortunately, my company wouldn't accept this fact and stuck with this software.
