I, myself, love to make my base fully automatic. But I wouldn’t recommend you to have an off switch for furnaces or at least have a backup medium battery sourcing furnaces. You should always have like 20+ electricity overhead.

i can just imagine walking into that base as its decaying

you can make the power switch automatic (applies for also normal and large furnaces) via using the conveyor fail signal to a logic gate that will trigger a water pump and sprinkler on a timer (0.25s-1.00s) that will switch off the furnaces.

I don't know how to do Rust electrics... But could you set up a system that detects when pipes are actively moving items? If you had something detecting when your furnaces have an input and turn on, and only turn off when there's no longer an output, could that work for a more automatic furnace?

or go all in... full autosorter into furnaces for ore, the rest into your organized base. use a buffer barrel to pull from, so you can be more efficient in conveyors and centralize your system. then put drop boxes around your base, so after crafting stuff is easy. then routing autocrafting in is simple if you wanna do that. power management wise, using a memory cell and a few blockers you can make a super efficient battery/power source switch and save a bunch of power, at the cost of keeping everything on (still much more efficient for anything like this or larger)

Im a broke mf so im on console but I've been using industrial since it dropped and it's amazing I feel like it makes farming so much easier. Don't mind it as much especially with teas

Yeah so spend you know an hour setting it up so you can spend more time pvping. You have to be so hardcore to set up that much. I understand the automatic smelters because they do a function outside of just storing your stuff
