Muscleman, big and strong Make a wish, won't take long. You should see me fly, stream across the sky. HA! HA! I can do no wrong, wrong, wrong Sometimes I have the power, make the bully holler Before I'm done, on the run I'll fly a plane like a hurricane Yo, baby! Wish is what I like! Whenever I'm in trouble, I need magic on the double My glove comes through and my wish cones true Thank the stars above for my magic glove Yo, baby! Wish is what I like!

I wish U to U would be rebooted and it would feature social posts from Twitter and Facebook. And anyone can join in on Zoom or FaceTime. Also it would feature celebrities and video airmail from kids around the world. What do you all think?

I SO loved this when it was on the air, but just like Popeye, I can't stand to watch it anymore. Feels bad man! Needed better artwork and a slightly improved plot I think. The idea is still sound, I've just been spoiled by modern cartoons.

I always laugh at comments about how great it was back then when it comes to shows like these. Let's face it. We've been spoiled by the internet collecting and preserving these shows legally or otherwise so we can have them ANY time we want. Back then, we got pulled away from these once in a while because our parents made us go somewhere or sit at the table for breakfast or something, and if we missed one episode it was a gamble if it was ever on again instead of one you've seen 3 or 4 times already. Sure, there were those who had recording VCR's and managed to tape them, and some of those are the posts we're enjoying now. But remember the only way to get episodes otherwise was paying a fortune for a video tape with, if you're lucky, more than 2 episodes on it. Sure, I have good memories about this stuff, but I would have KILLED to have 24/7 access to cartoons that I could watch on a tiny little computer I could take anywhere back then.

Half of the episodes of Wish Kid included an appearance by a live-action Culkin at the beginning talking to the audience and promoting the show, with a few featuring just his voice over describing the events of the upcoming story. “Love at First Wish” and “The Best of Enemies” featured Frankie’s voice-over instead. The entire series was written by Jeffrey Scott and featured music by Clark Gassman. Animation duties were handled by Hung Long Animation, Point Animation and Cartooneurs. The live-action segments were directed by Christopher Brough. Wish Kid didn’t quite bring in the audience NBC was hoping for, and ultimately the network followed through with their plan to eliminate animation entirely from their Saturday morning schedule in favor of trying to replicate the success of Saved by the Bell with a focus on live-action teen-oriented comedies. Wish Kid did have the distinction of being the last of the cartoons to remain on NBC’s schedule when it was cleared for the 2-hour news program Saturday Today on August 1st, 1992 before the fall season began. Wish Kid lasted 13 episodes, airing on Saturday mornings on NBC for 1 season from September 14, 1991 to December 7, 1991 with repeats until September 5, 1992, although repeats aired on The Family Channel for 4 years, from September 5, 1992 to September 28, 1996 and lastly on Toon Disney for 4 years April 7, 1998 to September 7, 2002 after that, but the original live-action segments at the beginning of each episode with Culkin were edited out. At one point, Fox Kids was commission a new season of the show, after NBC got out of the game. Jeffrey Scott wrote a pilot for it, but they never made it. While Wish Kid reruns were still airing on The Family Channel, they were supposed to commissioned a 2nd season/series and 52 episodes (along with the original 13 NBC episodes) to air, but there were no new episodes of Wish Kid. This was later cancelled.

Why does this show only has 13 episodes ?
@FlyingDuckMan3603 ай бұрын
@davidharper2868 Because it aired on NBC, the lowest-rated Saturday Morning cartoon block at the time. NBC had commercial failures such as Pro-Stars, Space Cats, Wish Kid, and Yo Yogi!, while other leading networks had more memorable cartoons. CBS had Garfield and Friends, Muppet Babies (1984), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987), Fox Kids had Bobby's World, Taz-Mania, and a few others, and Nickelodeon had the then-new Nicktoons; Doug, Rugrats (1991), and The Ren and Stimpy Show. A second season of Wish Kid was planned for the Family Channel in 1993, following its departure from NBC, but this season never saw the light of day, due in part to DiC Entertainment's top priorities of 1993 including two different animated series based on the Sonic the Hedgehog games and The Incredible Dennis the Menace, the last of which was made to tie in with the live-action film by Warner Bros..

This is just outside of my primary nostalgia range. It’s easier now to have nostalgia for the 1990s but in June 1991 my life got way worse and it hadn’t gotten any better by September 1991. But thanks for uploading it so I can try to enjoy it now with additional perspective :-)
