I've been involved with Veterans for Peace since 2003, and was an officer with the local chapter for eight years. I have helped organize many peace demonstrations. One concern while organizing was how to exclude extremist groups that would try to hijack our event. They were public events, so we couldn't exclude them explicitly, but we did put out messaging that the people dedicated to the cause should follow our peaceful protest, and ignore both the agitators and the hijackers.
