Sm58 is trash.. let’s cut the crap

Now go for GTZ U87 just for 150 bucks. It is best budget clone of legendary U 87. GTZ U87+ with K47 with just for 250 bucks is another upgrage.

The pickups are why you buy a Telestar guitar. They were designed by JT Roboloff who designed Gibson's "Dirty Finger" pickups. I have found Telestar mini humbuckers to have their own character.... too bad they were not good enough for you. There were only about 400 Telestars made. Now I guess there are about 399.

After buying a counterfeit SM7b and replacing it with a SM58, I wish I had just bought the '58 in the first place. Much better value for money and to my uneducated ear and with some EQing, it's virtually indistinguishable .

The ribbon in the R-121 is not centered, it is slightly shifted towards the front of the mic, which results in a slightly thinner or "top heavy" frequency response. One common trick with these is to turn them around and point the back at the acoustic guitar, and it will instantly sound brighter and more balanced than if you point the front of the mic at the guitar.

For beginners I would think the SM58 would be a more practical mic.. but it can be used professionally too. It's easier to use and in the bedrooms it would not pickup much of the background noises as it is a dynamic mic. The first time I used a condenser mic.. it would pickup the slightest noise outside the bed room.. very annoying. Cheaper too and can be used live. Very good all rounder mic.

You can't compare the dinamic mics with the conderser mics. They build for the different use. The vocal is recordin with the conderser, at the same time as dynamic mics are usin for performances and /or pickin up and recordin instruments in the studio. Its like comparin my dick with a microphone. Just my opinion

They sound very close... the 87 does have a wider frequency response but the average person would not hear that difference.

For someone with a deep voice like me , the neumann are not a great choice. Im not saying neumann a bad mic, but the price are just not that worth it.

I have used both mics. The nueman mic is so sensitive it pics up everything, it's really not useable if you don't have a real studio, vocal booth. Sm58 is not so sensitive it is much better to use if you don't have a real vocal booth and studio. Most importantly what happens behind the mic is 1000% more important than the price tag or mechanics of the microphone.

Sm58 sucks. Its very dark sounding. I got an AT2020 and it picked up my vocals WAY WAY WAAAAAYYY better.

I always use ozone maximizer for this, it is so clean, do you think it´s the same or am I missing out by not using IRC3?

Glad people are realizing the spell big names have had over us, its like guitar pickups, its just magnets and copper coil, you can make better than factory for 30$

Guys, please listen, you CANNOT compare mics from that price difference truthfully in an untreated room like this (no disrespect Daniel Hong). If you're willing to pay more than 2k on a mic, it should ONLY be after you have found a solution for absorbing treatment (around 15cm thick if you want it to be perfectly absorber the low register of voices). This would make a much bigger difference, trust me.

They do make Humbucker sized P90s that sound terrific. That said not sure the humbuckers in this old guitar are standard size Humbuckers.
