The PROBLEM is not "how much" or "too much" moisture. It is a chemical issue. This is not a revolutionary product.

Whichever method you choose to install the grout is perfectly acceptable as long as your joints are properly packed full, level, and clean when the installation is complete.

Can this be used inside of a shower as waterproofing?
@laticrete
@laticrete 19 күн бұрын
Yes, MVIS™ WCI is designed to help the performance of interior and exterior thin veneer systems. It is used behind the adhesive mortar and is a load bearing, fluid applied membrane. It can be used as a bulk water management system and crack isolation membrane in an MVIS™ system (Masonry Veneer Installation System) when placed under exterior masonry veneer finishes (ceramic tile, stone, manufactured stone veneer and directly over cement backer board). The membrane will keep most of the bulk water through system and minor movements (from thermal, wind loads) of the façade system. Any moisture that may pass through the system will be handled by the primary water resistive barrier or air barrier system.

Hey Aaron, thank you for the feedback. Our grout samples are made to be as consistent as possible to the actual product however it's always possible there may be a slight shade difference when comparing either a plastic sample, what's represented on a color chart or different types of materials. Actual shade and texture are affected by many factors to include jobsite conditions, lighting, installation techniques, and the type of tile or stone being installed. It's always recommended to verify actual appearance and compatibility with a test area before installing.

What a couple of clowns Way to lack detail these guys have what I call fill in the blankitis they present the product leave plenty of blank spots and expect you to fill them in. Doesn't show the first half of the work and slaps it in and says THATS IT he says what a clown It's hard to take these guys serious they didn't wash the substrate they didn't burm the thinset into the plywood demonstrate symmetrical trowling just a complete lack of detail on what should be a detailed and professional orientated video disappointing to say the least I was looking for more than this

We do not specifically state Basalt in the product's data sheet for suitable surfaces, however we do list out several general stone surfaces. It is always best to test out the product on a separate piece or an inconspicuous place in the installation to confirm compatibility.

I used this yesterday on our granite countertops. I found that it had almost completely dried (in spots) before the 15 minutes were up. I used a small roller to apply, and papertowels to remove. 24 hours later there are streaks. I've seen on other sites that I should go over it with extra fine steel wool. Should I wait the next 48 hours, or what are your thoughts?
@laticrete
@laticrete Ай бұрын
In order to avoid drying on the surface, continue to apply sealer to keep it wet. Once the 15 minutes has passed no further application is necessary and the wet sealer should be dried up and buffed from the surface using a clean dry towel. Should a sealer residue appear, rewet the impacted section of the surface with sealer. Agitate the surface with a white nylon scrubbing pad to loosen residue and wipe dry with a clean, absorbent towel. Any residue left behind after 24 hours may need to be removed using STONETECH Klenzall Cleaner.

@laticrete
@laticrete Ай бұрын
We wouldn't recommend using this for treating a steel surface. If you're looking to bond tiles to a steel surface you would either need to use an epoxy setting material like LATAPOXY 300 or you would first need to affix a metal lath to the surface, fill and coat the lath with a mortar bed render, and then you could set your mosaics to this surface using any cement setting material.

can water be added to the liquid membrane to dilute it a little bit. I tried applying the membrane with a roller onto the self-leveling concrete (cured Level Quick RH) but membrane's liquid component was immediately soaked up by the concrete and it peeled off in real-time back on the roller as a sheet and clumps of rubber. The membrane woud not adhere to this type of concrete surface. It's a good thing I didnt pour the entire bucket onto the floor because everything would have came off in patches and sheets while trying to spread it across the floor.
@laticrete
@laticrete Ай бұрын
It's possible a primer from the manufacturer may be necessary prior to application if that's the case. You could also try our HYDRO BAN instead for your crack isolation as we do have guidelines in the product data sheet for use as a prime coat in which case you would mix the product in 1 part to 4 parts water prior to the full coat application. We do not have any guidance for doing this with FRACTURE BAN SC.

Should I use the hydro ban sealing tape around the edges and the prefabricated corners? I'm not seeing those in the video and wondering why it's not used. Also, the pre-sloped pan is 34"x66", I need to cut my pans width down so that I maintain 15" to the center of the toilet drain, what does that do with the precut rabbit joins? Would I have to recut that rabbit joint after I've dry fit my pan so that I can install the hydro ban boards?
@laticrete
@laticrete 2 ай бұрын
There is no sealing tape required when using our HYDRO BAN Liquid Waterproofing Membrane. If you choose to use the HYDRO BAN Sheet Membrane for treating the corners this would still be acceptable, but keep in mind for cement backerboard the entire surface would still need waterproofing. If you do modify the pan the rabbit joints would be recommended to be recut.

OK. I almost went to work for the man who originally invented StoneTech, Mike Guash. I am sorry if I misspelled the last name, Mike. He knew I was committed to this type of work, and I was learning from the best in the business. At that time. Late 80s, very early 90s. I was also good friends with Stev 0:42 e Kaufman, who was one of the originating members of ProChem. I also knew Steve, who started CHEMSPEC, Steve used to work for Steve Kaufman. And then there was Wayne Day. Who I worked for for many years. Also, Mike G.‘s brother, Jim Guash, who had his own carpet, cleaning company Redwood carpet cleaners. This is where we, and another old friend of mine, Mr. Krup, started in the business to begin with. There’s other names, and other companies that we’ve all worked for, but this is where all that basically started. So there’s not much you can tell me about the actual inception of these chemicals and/or companies. And when did legend brands buy out DriEaz? Wow. Tell the young lady in the video to quit drinking so much coffee before filming. Thank you for your time.

Ok ,, so if I use bulletproof sealer on exterior tile floors, I still have to wipe off the excess of sealer ?? Can I just put a very light coat and let it dry ??
@laticrete
@laticrete 3 ай бұрын
We wouldn't recommend allowing the product to dry on the surface, doing so may result in a residue left behind. It's best to keep the product wet by reapplying during the 10-15 minutes of the application, then buff dry any excess with a clean dry towel for the best results.
@germanesquivel7009
@germanesquivel7009 3 ай бұрын
So when you apply this to floor tiles you still have to wipe down the excess after 15 minutes ??
@laticrete
@laticrete 3 ай бұрын
Not with this product. This product is intended to be topical, so after application you'll need to allow 30-45 minutes between coats or until the surface is dry. Surface traffic may begin 12 hours after final application; keep installation dry for a minimum of 12 hours; full cure is achieved in 24-48 hours.

Hi. From what ive learned , grout haze remover has to be applied within 10 days of the grout being applied. We have not been able to get rid of the haze on the shower floor tile, which were installed over 2 years ago. Is your product any better? Thanks.
@laticrete
@laticrete 3 ай бұрын
This all depends on the type of grout that was used. All grout installations have the potential for haze to be left on the tile surface whether it's from an epoxy, acrylic, urethane, or cement grout. Choosing the correct cleaner for your haze and following manufacturer instructions on its use is going to be the key to the easiest haze removal. If you have further questions and would like guidance, please feel free to contact our Technical Services Department at 800.243.4788 ex1235.

Why would one want moisture to be drawn out of the mortar? It doesn't dry, rather is a chemical reaction which requires the water. Indeed, best to cover mortar (or concrete) after it begins curing and keep it damp.
@laticrete
@laticrete 3 ай бұрын
Of course we wouldn't want to draw out moisture too soon, we want the mortar to remain properly hydrated throughout the curing process to achieve proper strength. But, allowing the product to breathe in the installation will allow for this process to be achieved more quickly even with a mortar that's highly polymer modified.

Quick question. Is this epoxy grout. Waterproof
@laticrete
@laticrete 4 ай бұрын
This depends on what you mean, if you're asking if it will prevent water from passing through then the answer would be no, it does still have a very minuscule absorption rate which is why a waterproofing membrane should always be used when the application calls for it. Otherwise, the product itself is water resistant and is suitable for use in submerged applications such as spas, pools, and fountains once allowed to cure for a minimum of 10 days.
