He (most likely) didn’t create the weird sisters. The present of 3 women representing fate/destiny and therefore eventually death is prevalent in a large variety of ancient myths, most likely originating from the Ancient Greek “three fates”. They exist in Norse mythology and the old English word for their Norse name is “wyrd” which itself in modern English would unsurprisingly be “weird”. They might have had certain inspirations drawn from witch myths permeating the culture at the time, but the chief inspiration for them is almost certainly the 3 fates myths of old, not other contemporary texts of the time. They might’ve received some influence from texts at the time to give them broader appeal to the people of the time, but that’s not their origin.

For the feeding the littluns quote, could it be another biblical allusion to Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit or would it be too hard to link back to the themes of the novel?
