Although it wasn't discussed here, I think what is missing now in Ireland is family prayer, the Rosary and mothers kneeling with their very young children before bedtime to ask God to bless each member of the family by name and neighbours and relatives in need. Thank God I grew up with this at least sporadically. Eventhough i had left home in my teens and was away from the church until my late twenties, the memory of that spirit of prayer never left me. In fact its what called me back to the Church, it felt like the big chunk of love that was missing from my life. I have heard over the years from most lapsed catholics that they never had family prayer. Without the rosary, many have forgotten the Gospel stories. They also say (as the good Fr noted here), yeah 'i believe God exists' as if that were enough. They don't know any prayers outside the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be. Saying all that, i believe a spirit of prayer needs to start in young children's lives and the parents needs encouragement here. I enjoyed this interview, Thank you and God Bless you both.

What great guys! Good to see them again and hope they will all become strong Fathers, biological or spiritual. Besides my dumb phone I have an iPad for mostly Catholic channels. Keeping up a little with the geo-political scene. I turn it off when in Church and sometimes forget to tun it on till next day. After praying about this addiction, even these good contents, one day it self destructed and immediately I thought, “Thank you, God.” Off for 6months, my whole life changed. Earlier to bed, rising earlier and eating in different, better hours. I’ve had couple Nokias for years but now a BLU without a contract, and many features that I’ve never activated. Here’s the issue, as stated by an American: If the government, otherwise referred to as the “State”, funds private schools, Catholic and Protestant schools, it would not be constitutional nor “right” to then not fund Islamic schools, as well, for an example-Islamic schools that invariable teach jee-hodd (avoiding algorithms) and other violent and dark and anti-west ideas. Religious schools need to be privately funded. This comes from tuition. And the sad truth is that the middle class and upper classes are the only ones who can afford it. But there is a very good reason why no government should be funding private, particularly religious, schools, because there is no end to religions and their doctrines and cultures, many of which are contrary to societal stability. We have to accept that school is school. And religious education now, pressingly, has to be handed down through the parishes and parents. Our Catholic schools in America long ago, 30 years +, turned into prestige schools of secular values. 99% of them. This is what Ireland has been experiencing in more recent times. We live in a post-Christian world, the West has fallen. Parents and parishes have a MASSIVE responsibility on their hands, one never before seen in history, with protecting their kids from the dark cultural influences, and very actively giving them the Faith.
