I still have my ST ones from 2000! I'd love some suggestions where to get new plates and wheels for it since I don't remember what mm wheels to get! (Also prayers that I don't break anything after a 22yr break from skating! :) Cheers!

@kpdrums1427 58mm is the max I would go, subtract soulplates out of Australia are really good. You could also Frankenstein some adapt soulplates with a dremal. I'm a heavy guy and my salomons have held up to the test of time. Goodluck!

You still making videos on Salomons dude? I have been skating mine and wow, they are incredible. I am a newer blader, about 2 years in and I enjoy a lot of skates but mainly Razors. I have some ST80s with the Subtract soulplates and only three sessions in and they might be the best feeling skates so far!
@Jasperkell4 ай бұрын
@Martz604 that's awesome man, the subtracts feel so good. I really like how the groove for the backslide lock you in. I haven't skated since March. I got a bad ankle injury, and it's only just healed. I want to get back on the blades soon and start making reviews and edits.

Nice dude! There isn't a lot of info out there in video form on Salomon skates and your videos helped me pull the trigger on them. I really would love to find the Rob Thompson models someday. By the way did the screw hardware that came with your Subtract soulplates stick up a bit in the boot past the receiver? Mine stick up a couple of millimeters and I need one of those thin plastic footbeds to protect my liners. Thanks!
@Jasperkell4 ай бұрын
@Martz604 I did have this issue on a couple and ended up swapping back to the original hardware. I also didn't like that the new hardware used a different Allen key size. I've talked to subtract the hardware, and they will be making some changes.

Great overview. I had the blue ones (I think the name was ST8) and I absolutely loved them. How they looked, how they felt, the insane quality, the perfect shape for a wide range of different feet-types etc, etc.. Even the stock-frames were really good. But this is no wonder regarding their also amazing skiboots which are absolutely outstanding from every point of view. It is a pity that they do not produce inline-skates anymore...

I'd like to skate, what kind or brand of skates do you recommend for my first pair? I'm from Mexico,
@Jasperkell Жыл бұрын
Hello Ricardo, I'd recommend buying Them skates 909 or Razors SL. They're the best all-around skates and good quality. If you're looking for a cheaper price point, used rollerblade trs skates from eBay is a good option.

3:56 I think the ST80s were out a number of years prior to '07-'08. I just found my old pair that I got from a friend back in high school. Never saw him use them, but I remember him saying he and his brothers used to go to the skatepark. We became friends in 8th grade, so that was 2002 at the latest that he would've got them new. So maybe the ST80s were from like 2001ish?

Great video bro! I ride a pair of ST10s, shaved off the nubs to fit a set of Gawds souls.. They're super solid and better than any other skates I've owned. Thanks for the comparison with the Subtract souls. Looks like they just added a new stock of inventory on their website

I still have my size 12 UK of these exact skates. Slightly scuffed but in good condition with the same wheels on from when I first bought them back in 1999 (I think). Thinking of selling but can't find a good guide for price.
@Jasperkell Жыл бұрын
Typically, the very large shell sizes (anything over a UK 9.5) or small shell sizes (under UK 6) will not be worth as much and tend to be harder to sell. That being said, a nice pair in one of these sizes can sell for around 150 pounds. I recommend taking a magic eraser to any scuffs or marks before listing.

Good video. Thanks for posting. Did you have to do any modification to the boot to get the soul plate on? Any cutting or Dremel work required?

I had the First run of the Salomons back in 1998. Had the Blue ST8. I skated those things for like 2 years heavy and they were still in great condition. I know most skates from the time period the plastic is fragile. Do you find the Plastic on those Salomons is still not going to crack. I wonder what happened wiih the Salomon molds? If Salomon would sell the Molds another company could make the Skate again. I noticed you said you had a 3D priniter. Are you able to print the the shells or a copy of the shells. you can maybe modify them a little. Like I always thought the look down on the skate was a little off center. Would be cool if the laces were in the direct center. Anyway, cool video yeah I am a Salomon addict also, Ive owned a few used pairs and modified. Had the Brandon Campbell liners in a used pair of the Brown ST8 and modified a Night Sole plate to fit the skate. It was just a flat sole plate very easy to drill holes.
@Jasperkell Жыл бұрын
That's awesome man. I really like the color blue they used for the ST8's. I find the plastic is super solid on all my salomons, knock on wood. The st ones in the video were still brand new in the box, and I don't believe they were skated on. I think they were old stock or well kept in someone's garage. The st80s I have and the feinbergs I picked up were also well kept and look lightly skated. I think if these skates were left exposed to the elements, they may have some issues with cracking and becoming brittle. I don't have a 3D printer myself, but a guy I work with has one. I know of someone on Instagram @casalitricks who has been working on 3D shell prints for the Salomons. I think it would be cool if someone would make a 3D print of salomons and do a vacuum resin mold with carbon fiber.

Let me remind people who buy older skates. Plastic doesn't age good. Many people dig their old skates, and when they start to skate...many people skates get torn. I hope people buy these skates for nubies or to collect.😊

I bought a 17 year old pair of Salomon racing skates from Craigslist for 50 bucks and they've been perfect for 2 years now. Also got a pair of Salomon ST Pro and they've been worry-free (after replacing the infamous heel cushions)
