When I was a young child, my father, not Jewish, a survivor of NAZI concentration camp, told me they always make fun of the German army in US movies, but not the Japanese army. The reason he said, is that the NAZIs killed Jews and Hollywood is mostly in the hands of Jews. He said despite how Hollywood portrays the German army, it was one of the most disciplined and the best in the world, as it took many nations to defeat them. Many years later, reading much history, I discovered the allies had broken the German codes and knew much of the German military plans. This was confirmed by a British military officer who commented, despite the fact that the allies had broken the code and had intelligence to warn them of imminent actions, the Germans still managed to give them a hell of a time.

This is refreshing. So many people use the word genius with Jerry Lewis so I've been watching alot of his stuff and I'm sorry but genius usually doesn't come to mind. It's usually just the over the top silly voices and jabbering with nothing amusing to say, making silly faces and I guess people thought that was comedic genius. It looked like he was attention starved and insulting to his audience when he had to babble like a baby and stick his tongue out to let you know when it was supposed to be funny. Here he is slightly reserved, there's subtlety to the joke like having a black German driver not be acknowledged, an amusing premise and nice cinematography as well. The password gag went on a little too long and they couldn't come up with anything to add to it except the telephone hits his helmet...real zinger there, such genius. But overall it's an improvement over alot of what I've seen from him.

Jerry Lewis was a comedy good, so many great memories of my childhood was spent watching his movies when home sick from school, when they morning matinees on “regular tv” not the this cable trash…though this bit is the Abbot/Costello “Who’s on first” routine which is also classic❤
