@@theguitartundra aye, I think it's a lot of open chords around d g and the odd bflat but the bass is so prominent and all the chords anchor on it that it's hard to hear what or which guitar is doing. It's another great song by them though. They really did some amazing, hearty and heavy stuff.. one of me faves!

The whole of blues obituary has a unique sound to it, all the instruments captured in their live state(mcphee could couldn't replicate it live though). I've not heard any other recording by anyone with natural guitar tones like this. Enjoyed your breakdown immensely.

I didn't particularly want to learn any Duane Allman stuff at this stage (more interested in the Burlesque walkthrough) but got hooked by your playing! I did wonder, however, why Parts 1 & 2 were played on your white Strat but not Part 3. That white Strat is so sweet and I just have to find out what pickups are in there, and are they also the same as in your sunburst? ps. I've been playing since the '60s but never even learned a single Groundhog track. Better see what I've been missing !
@theguitartundra12 күн бұрын
Firstly thanks so much for watching all of those 🙏😊. Both of those Strats are Bacchus guitars, made in Japan, 20 odd years ago. They have Yuta pickups in them which are quite highly regarded. I think I played the sunburst one, just because it was lying around to be honest, although the frets are slightly less warn on that one, so it’s a little easier to do those Duane bends 😊 - thanks so much for your comment and I recommend ‘Split’ and ‘Thank Christ for the Bomb’ as good access points for Groundhogs music. 🙏😊

I don’t think I have seen anyone else show the minor chord methods. Really cool. With three string power chords, 6 string major chords, fretted minor chords and single string slides, that is quite a music vocabulary. As two string slide bassist Mark Sandman said: that is enough, you know.

Great video man and playing! Thanks for posting. I’ve had the pleasure of taking drum lessons from Paul T. Riddle and in 1995 he asked me to teach his students while he played for the Allman Brothers while Jaimoe was ill. Then Paul T. Had a band called Seven Moore and I saw them performing this song at the end of the show. Wow! I never got the pleasure of seeing Toy play. But I love love this Lp and there others. Paul came down to my house last year and just tore up my kit! I would post some of that but I respect his privacy. My band at the time played at Doug Gray’s wedding. The band has had a big influence on me as well as tons of people around the world. 🎶. Good stuff.
